Free round-trip airfare and hotel stay. Very misleading. Must pay $100 activation fee up-front w/in 21 days, plus $75 per person reservation processing fee and must stay in a select hotel for at least 2 days in the city you fly into. On top of $75 per per person fee there are taxes, fuel surchares, incidentals (don't you love this additional unknown expense), and other (more) surcharges!).  Everything is email or mail only.

After $100 you get a reservation package in the mail and must submit 2 airports to fly out of, and 2 destination cities to fly into. And the 2 different departing dates must be 45 days apart. They then take 3-4 weeks to send you your written intinery. After getting this and if acceptable you then don't find out if your request is approved until 15-21 before your departing date.

The FREE round-trip and 2 night hotel stay would cost a minimum of $250 plus. Definately a misleading, false bunch of deciptive advertising.

Solicitation letter states "FREE AIRFARE"

AUTHOR: Dogger - ()

POSTED: Friday, May 31, 2013

You are correct that your voucher does not say anything about free. However, being the good spin doctor you fail to mention that your solicitaion letter clearly states "FREE AIRFARE FOR 2". I will be happly to post a copy of letter to substantiate my claim. This is clearly a gross misrepsentation of the facts. As many others have stated, your offer is anything but free, Your telephone representiative also stated that it was "FREE" and with "NO RESTRICTIONS". Also a gross misreprestation.

I can't speak to the travel services you offer with your membership other than to say that when we attended your 90 minute seminar we were initially told that the membership cost would be $7,995.00. When we said we were not interested the price immediately came down to $5,995.00. We choose to leave. If we had stayed perhaps I could have got it for $10.00. The fact that you will take anything you can get says 'RED FLAG - RIP OFF" to me.

At the very least I find your advertising practices and your sales techniques to be a gross misreprestation and totally unethical, offensive and an insult to my intelligence. Your sales presenters remind me of used car salesmen.

My advice to anyone that chooses to purchase your membersips is CAVEATE EMPTOR. BUYER BEWARE!

Smart Travel Liars

AUTHOR: al - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 10, 2013

Smart Travel Does state FREE airline tickets, all one has to do is go to a 90 minute sales presentation for timeshares. On our experience, they ovebooked, so we luckily didn't have to experience their shpeel.  One of the salesmean that greeted us, an african american male, as quite rude to me when I said I would not give him my credit card, he stated in a condecending manner, "did I ask you to"? He could have just stated that h e wanted to verify that the card was in my name.

Furthermore, when I got home, I found the postcard, I orginally had misplaced it and had to use an e-mail, the postcard states 2 free airline tickets, I am reading it right now! Smart Travel liars. For our troubles and because they overbooked, they "gave" us a 50.00 travelocityincentives card to use. We shall see how that works out.  It's a shame, had this been on he up and up, I was cnsidering a timeshare, but, now NOT from them.  The fees as stated above from the original complaint are what is stated on our paperwork.

Agreement with...

The rebuttal.

I don't work for ST&I but have used one of their vouchers.

Everything they said above is what is actually said and written on the voucher; and everything the complaint mentioned was not correct.

Not Free Travel

AUTHOR: Smart Travel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 09, 2012

Smart Travel & Incentives does not offer any type of free travel. We do not use the word free on any of our travel vouchers. You are correct that we do request deposits upon activation; which are then applied towards the taxes and fees that are due at the time of booking. All of this is very clearly outlined in the terms and conditions on each voucher.

Communications such as travel requests, notice of cancellation, etc. must be in writing. Our phone number is listed on every voucher so that you may call with any questions you have after your voucher has been activated.

Travel offers are made 30-45 days out via phone or email. You can then decide to accept or decline the offer. The confirmation may not be sent until 15-21 days prior. However you would have had the details given to you in the offer.

The confirmation letter is more of a formality.

These travel vouchers are designed to give our customers a substantial savings on their travel when the terms and conditions are followed correctly. You state in your complaint that it may cost $250.00 per person for the two tickets and
hotel. That is not a bad thing. The average cost of airline tickets right now is between $500-$800 per person for a flight over five or more states. That is at worst a 50% savings on the flight, not even counting a hotel yet. We are very pleased to offer that sort of savings to our customers, and do so on a daily basis.

I am sorry that you were unhappy with our travel voucher and chose not to activate it, hopefully this cleared up any questions you may have had; and also the statements you made that were incorrect for anyone that will read them in
the future.
