I am a former AIU Online student and attended via my employer's tuition reimbursement program. I had no problem with the $50 application fee or even the constant phone calls, but I had a BIG problem with the financial aid advisors. While I was very clear in explaining that I needed to know exactly which classes were in my schedule so that I could fill out the appropriate paperwork for my tuition vouchers, and I also explained that my employer would not pay for a class if it didn't match what was on the voucher.

The problems began when my scheduled classes kept changing. AIU would bill my employer anyway, even if the paperwork wasn't correct. When we finally got things on the same page (the right paperwork for the right classes), AIU wasn't billing in a timely manner. I left the employer in 2003, and according to the financial aid advisor, my account was current, all the classes I'd taken previously had been paid for. As I was no longer receiving tuition reimbursement, I informed my student advisor and financial aid advisor that I was withdrawing and requested any necessary paperwork to complete with withdrawal process. I never received that paperwork, instead, I received books for the next class in my schedule and was told that I'd be charged for the course even if I didn't complete it.

Somehow that one course ended up costing $9,500!!! To date, I still have not received an account of what the $9,500 is for, and AIU has sent the account to collections. I'm interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience and if any resolution was reached.
