I ordered a Nikon d3100 camera for $175 from AJRichie during their End of Winter Sale. I was exited to find the camera so cheap and considered myself lucky because there was still 15 hours remaining before this incredible deal expired. The next day I received an email asking me to call and confirm my order. I assumed this would lead to the sales team trying to upsell me on accessories or a better model, but was ok with that considering the price I was getting.

When I called, the person I was speaking to did try to sell me a better battery as I expected. I refused this because I had done some research and knew I could get the battery elsewere cheaper. They then tried to upsell me on an "English version" of the camera. This shocked me because I had seen no mention of language on the product page. The salesman went on to tell me that the camera I had ordered was all in Japanese and if I wanted to be able to read any of the instructions or onscreen menus I would need to pay $399 ($224 more than the $175 I had expected) for the English version. I of course immediately canceled my order.

At this point I went back to AJRichies site to see what I had missed when placing my order. I could find no mention on the page that this was a non-English version of the camera, and even found this line in the product description: "Supported Languages - Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French,..." which appears to state that the camera is in English.

It is also worth pointing out that end of winter sale still had 13 hours remaining in it a full day later. This is not particularly surprising, but did make me feel stupid for believing I had found such a great sale just by chance.
