Yes in fact Kallie and her puppies died in a fire, as well as Alena's beautiful chocolate poodle "Coco".

We would like people to know about his horrible accident and what really happened. Jamie has posted some of his usual misleading lies over the fire and we would like people to know the truth.

During the fall of 2009 the family attended a dinner at the extended families home about an hour away. As they didn't want to leave the 6 week old puppies and momma alone in the house for the full evening, they decided to converted a large 14 X 14 horse stall into a wonderful play area for that night. This would allow the puppies more room to play and the freedom for the mother and her puppies to have a potty area. The stall was in an almost brand new large modern two level barn, that was believed to be safe.  The play area included 12 bales of hay for climbing and hiding in. A warm dog den, and several crates with big fluffy pillows, never mind the endless amount of dog toys. The bottom of the stall was 2 feet thick of bedding, it was clean, warm and very peaceful environment. They had a small radio on for comfort and a stall light. The puppies loved it, and played non stop!! Alena spend almost 2 hours the evening before the fire sitting on the hay and playing with the puppies, cuddling Kallie and holding Coco like a baby and rubbing her belly. When it was time to leave for the family dinner Alena left the stall light for her dogs to see. These were very spoiled dogs up until that evening Alena had taken Kallie her puppies and Coco on all her out of town travels. Kallies foster mother can vouch for this as well as many others. This was the first time they were left alone and not in the house.

When they returned that night it was late around 12 am. Alena's wanted to get the dogs but her hubby said they would be fine for the night.  She checked the barn from her bed room balcony at 1:30 am before going to bed. She could see the light was still on over the stall and all looked fine through the side windows.  She agreed to leave the dogs for that night, as it was late and they would of all been settled in and sleeping. She awoke sudden from a deep sleep to a sitting up gasp at 4 AM to hear Kallie cry for help. To see the bed room window and walls glowing orange and the sound of a large fire crackling. Pure panic and fear struck her as she ran to the window and couldn't believe what she saw. The side windows were glowing pure orange in the barn. She turned and yelled to her hubby to call 911 and ran to the aid of her dogs. She opened the exterior stall door and was face to face with flames and a wall of smoke. She knew at that moment mid stride if she continued forward she would not come out. Her entire body wanted to run in and save the dogs but that voice in her head said you will die if you enter, its to late they are gone. It took all her strength not to enter or believe what was happening. She yelled at the top of her lungs for Kallie over and over but no dogs responded. She knew at that moment it was to late and they were dead, but deep down she hoped they were still ok hiding some how. She ran for water and help but realized upon her returned they were gone and she couldn't save them. She will live that horrible moment for the rest of her life. Remembering the feeling of such deep loss and horrible pain, disbelief and questioning WHY, sadness and wonder how to tell Kallies owner she was gone.

To the kinds words of a friend that comforted her to realize that accidents happen, and that this was an accident. That she did everything she could and that she knew they were loved dogs.

A memorial and tree was planted at 2292 Swayne Rd Coombs BC in loving memory to the lost dogs. Alena and her family have since left the farm because of the trauma suffered there. Flowers can be placed at the site with the property owners permission.

If anyone wondered what happened this is it.

The fire was investigated as possible arson due to the treats and harassment by Mr. Sheppard towards Alena but is now believed to be caused by faulty wiring.  Do to the barns metal roof the fire burned inward rather than through the roof.  It was a very quick fire that took less than an hour to collapse the entire barn.

The puppies were found hiding under the dog den and were not burned. Kallie and Coco remains were found at the stall door beside the puppies. These dogs were not in a shed, they were family raised and very loved and spoiled pets had their lives taken early.  Coco was with the puppies from the day their were born. Coco  believe they were hers and she wouldn't  leave them. She cared for Kallies puppies cleaned and even curled up with them and would not have it any other way. These dogs were amazing loving and wonderful with kids, they will be missed by all.

This is a horrible loss to Alena and everyone that had adopted the puppies. For Kallies and Coco's families and to everyone directly involved. Alena and her husband did suffer injuries and were monitored the morning of the fire by paramedics. They both suffered horrible night mares and post traumatic stress  and to this day have a hard time talking about it.

Do to the nature of this horrible loss, people need to respect the families involved and allow them the time to try and heal. To remember the dogs that lost their lives in this horrible accident.

To the kind souls lost in this fire, may the Angels guide you to heaven and may your spirits fly free, kisses and hugs.

As I read in dismay about all the slander, all the comments about Alena's home raised doodles, a fire, I glance over my shoulder at my sleeping 4 year old Finnigan, a statuesque Doodle- an infamous absolutely gorgeous specimen of dog; a community therapy dog, a delightful energetic family member, a dog bred by Alena!

MOTHER GOLDENDOODLE FOUND DEAD WITH PUPPIES STILL TRYING TO FEED OFF OF HER!!. OWNER KNEW SHE WAS ILL AND DID NOTHING, THEN BURNS THE BODY TO HIDE EVIDENCE OF NEGLECT.

PASHA IS DEAD by Jamies lack of concern over his dogs heath. Worker reported something was wrong but does nothing. Dog dies over night, with puppies found the next day still trying to nurse from her!

Owner tosses mother on burn pile doses her in gas and lights. NOT A CARING BREEDER, THIS DOG WAS BRED OVER AND OVER UNTIL SHE DIED!

What a scammer! What .. no house insurance???

How is it Alena and her family got out of the house but the four legged dogs didn't. Because the fire was in the shed and the dogs were locked in the shed.

There is no report of a house fire.

This woman has been placing dogs in Guardianships for years and then breeding them over and over. The Guardians pay the bills. All profit and no expense. Now she wants a hand out!!

After reading all the updates about the fire, I would like to provide some insight that will hopefully help readers determine the truth for themselves. We fostered the dog that had the puppies and was killed in the fire. For 20 months, Kallie was raised in a loving home environment with 3 children that loved her dearly. She was well cared for in our home and gave us much love and joy, and we loved her back equally. My children are heartbroken that she is gone.

Regarding Alenas Labradoodle Passion site, it is up and running again. It is now a memorial page for the dogs that were killed in the fire. You will see a picture of my son hugging Kallie. He is the main reason we got her in the first place. He dearly wanted a dog, and Kallie was his first pet. He was crazy about her. He still cries himself to sleep almost every night. Now an update reports that the fire is arson and there is a suspect? I will be contacting the police to confirm if this is indeed true, and keep myself updated with the investigation if it is. The tragic deaths of these dogs have created a tremendous amount of anguish for 2 families, and I simply cannot fathom that someone could be criminally responsible for this. Oh, and we also contacted the fire department about what happened. As mentioned in the update, they may not have a record of a house fire, but they do have a record of a barn fire, not a shed fire.

I personally find the postings being placed about the fire to be written in a callous manner by the author(s). Let Alenas and my family grieve in peace, and not be hurt any more by these comments.

The war of words was started by Alena 2 years ago with malicious postings on her site and on KIJIJI. Then she started malicious threads on Rip- Off report and other forums. She was removed from www.goldendoodles.com because of her attacks on kennels. Many breeders listed on this site are kennels. You can always contact the site manager and ask her yourself.

Notice I sign my threads as I have nothing to hide. Alena sold me a Labradoodle that sheds like a retriever and I can't give away and a Poodle that has poor pigmentation so I gave him away. Alena signs with different names and suggests she is an employee.  I opened a lawsuit against Strealeff in the BC Supreme Court because she has maliciously slandered our family business without regard for the consequences.

She continues to write that there are containers buried underground and we keep the dogs in them. She also claims the SPCA visited in Oct/09 and seized dogs.

Why not call for yourself and see if any dogs were seized then you will know who is the liar:

51 adult dogs were examined and 2 were found to have a (one) matt and 4 older dogs had some tartar on their teeth. Impressive no matter how you look at it. All 4 dogs with tartar have since visited the vet and had their teeth cleaned.

Alena has mislead the public for years saying she is a small hobby breeder but she places bitches in guardianship homes all over Vancouver Island. When I bought a stud from her she wanted him back to breed a dozen or so times in a year.

The recent fire that killed 2 moms (one pregnant and one with a litter) is tragic but they were in a shed and not in Alena's home. The true comesw out!!! 

All her ads that say home raised (not kennel dogs) were lies. Can you imagine 10 little puppiues running around the house elimanating everywhere. Her friend Liz is currently selling Alena's puppies from a Guardianship in the Cowichan Valley.

I personnally think that Guardianship Programs are a great idea. Hiding the fact is misleading the public. So the question remains, Why can't she be open and honest.

 So I challenge you Alena. Sign your name Alena, if you have nothing to worry about "Sign your name" If anything you say is true "Sign your name".

In my opinion, it's very clear this man needs to see someone about his behavior.

He continues to story tell and post false statements, slander and cause defamation towards others. His reactions fueled by hate are disturbing.  If he could only get his head out of his asswhole for long enough maybe he then could think straight. Blaming and posting against others for what is happening at his own kennel is also very disturbing.

I do believe all his postings are reflecting on what is happening at his own kennel and life. He is trying to blame others and hide the truth to what is happening in his own life.  

It is clear this man is troubled and would benefit by getting some professional help. With his lengthy problems, police reports, court case against him and so many upset people this man needs to look at himself for why is this happening? Its people reactions to Jamie Sheppard own behavior.

I do think he needs to look into mental disorders. He clearly has a childhood history of abuse or neglect that has led him into a life of abusing others.  This man needs to stop and look with in himself to heal his life. For his family, he needs to stop taking advantage of people. Pay his fines, and get help.

Grow up Jamie, this women is a very kind hearted lady that loves her animals and gave you several top quality dogs on good faith that you took from her and never paid for. I look forward to seeing her graduate as an animal control officer, so she can stop such horrible puppy farming.

I'm glad she has learned through all this BS from Winsome Kennels just how low some breeders will go. It's sad anyone can mock and slander someone name on this site.

Winsome kennels keeps his dogs in wooden sheds and buried in metal cargo containers with no windows how sad is this!

Well, well. Finally the proof is out. Tragically, a whole litter of puppies died in a fire in a shed that Alena was keeping her b***h and puppies in. She advertises "raised in a loving home environment" I wonder what kind of a spin she will try and put on this story. Oh ya, by the way, she has already removed all the listings and her website Labradoodle Passion. I wonder what she will call herself next time.

The local SPCA or Dog control officers would never allow dogs to be kept in sheds or anyone in the city to own so many dogs. It is clear by Labradoodle Passion web site and pictures her dogs are all well kept and home raised. It appears Jamie from Winsome Kennels continues to post slander about other breeders. Do to so many people suing this kennels owner it has caused him to distrust everyone around him and attack anyone that he believes has wronged him. He continues to assume all his problems are from one breeder in Victoria even with endless reports posted by breeders from all over BC. Anyone can see no one breeder could be behind so many complaints. No one breeder could be the owner or seller to all the Victoria or Vancouver Island puppies.

No breeder small or large would be able to be listed as a recommended labradoodle or golden doodle breeder if any of these false statements were at all truthful. View www.goldendoodles.com for recommended breeders Winsome Kennels is not listed. 

The public can clearly see Jamie enjoys harrassing this breeder. The multiple false reports are all written with common rants about the same thing.  Is this a kennel and breeder someone you would like to have dealings with?

This woman claims to be a small breeder with only a few litters a year yet has more names for her puppy breeding business than Heinz has ketchup. She is known for posting ads for several litters of puppies at the same time and for breeding her dogs every heat. She claims to only breed non-shedding dogs but clients are complaining all the time and she does nothing. Why does she list her address on Kijiji as Metoshin or Victoria? Is she so stupid she doesn't know where she lives or just trying to deceive the public? At last count her friend said she had 15 females. She keeps 4 labradoodles in a shed in her yard but advertises "Home Raised". I guess it's all a matter of interpitation. Wendy Victoria, British Columbia

It is actual best to breed every heat then to keep skipping them. There are many articles and information online where doctors and scientist have study birth and the cycles of females.

It has been proven that once you start to breed your female (start at 18months -3years) that you should continue on until you are ready to spay her (5-6 years). When you skip a heat you are causing more stress on the body because you are allowing more time for the uterus to heal. When the uterus is healed and then is forced to accommodate another litter, it is tearing new tissues and creating permanent damage.

When a female is allowed to keep breeding every heat until spayed (average about 4-5litters) then the uterus isn't healing upon itself, the new litter is using the same space from the previous litter and not creating more tissue damage.

This is how dogs did it naturally in the past and because we humans have an emotional attachment to our dogs, we believe we are giving the dog a break, when actually we are creating more inner damages to the female...

I would be more cautious of people who keep skipping heats when breeding their dog then someone who breeds every heat. It will show who actual did thorough research concerning the female anatomy in dogs and those who just followed word of mouth.
