Amazon's 1 click option makes it significantly "easier" for the users to purchase digital content and really speeds up the payment process. Because you know, the older "add to shopping cart" method was a real bear. The one click method shaved off an entire click. The only drawback is you can't modify which card to use if you have multiple credit cards, or a gift card on your account. So let's say you have multiple credit cards on the account, and want to use purchase from only one of them. You have to manually go in and delete the card that you don't want to use. If you have a gift card on the account, and try to use a credit card, Amazon will say "lol nope!" Amazon will not let you use any credit card, as the gift card will override any credit card entered.
Although I do enjoy Amazon's customer service, the purpose of this complaint is to highlight the fact that Amazon's 1 click option is a move backwards. Amazon purports that it is to "process the payment quickly." This may be true, but it makes it too easy for the customer to make accidental purchases, decreases the amount of payment optons available, and makes it too cumbersome to change payment methods. In my opinion, this vitiates the benifits of the 1 click option. Obviously, there are monetary incentives for Amazon to do this. Thanks for putting the customers first!
