We recently used AMS - Indianapolis to move our goods and store them for a few weeks.  Don't be fooled by this company.  They don't care about you, your stuff, or your satisfaction. They just want your money. Dan, the guy who gave our estimate, was very personable and seemed like a good guy, but I am guessing that the good ol' boy routine is just to get your business. The estimate was slightly lower than another company, so we went with them. Movers showed up when they said they would, but it went downhill from there. The three movers pretty much worked at the slowest pace possible since they get paid hourly.  I had everything boxed and ready to go in the garage with the exception of some furniture, which was broken down and waiting. 

Took them over 9 hours to load the truck, and the whole time they kept talking about how the weight of the estimate was way off. Concerned that our price was going to skyrocket, we called AMS several days over a two week period (while the stuff was in storage) and talked to Claire and Chris, the owner. Each time they couldn't answer our question about the weight and said they would call back, but never would.  My guess is that they never weighed the truck at all. I also asked about supplemental insurance because we tried to get that, but the company they told us to go through didn't have a record of an account for them.  Another red flag...  Claire was again going to talk to her boss, which I am assuming was Chris, and call me back about trying to get the insurance, but of course didn't. It was obvious we were concerned and they couldn't care less for our concerns or satisfaction.

Delivery day came and the first thing the driver told me is that some of our stuff got wet while in storage.  He said he wasn't going to bring it because it smelled so bad, but decided to do it anyway.  We could literally pour water out of several boxes, even after sitting on the hot truck for more than 12 hours.  He also said that some of our boxes were so deteriorated that people at AMS had to repack our goods in new boxes. Turns out they threw wet clothes on top of all of my wife's photo albums, ruining all of the pictures in them.  We had mildew, mold, and water damage all over.  In all, 28 boxes were damaged as well as 3 end tables, a desk and hutch, and our entertainment center.

Totals a little over $10,000 in damages. We filed a claim with We Care Claims, which turns out to be owned by AMS and, according to several reports I've read from others, is pretty much as worthless as the moving company. I haven't heard back after confirmation that our notarized letter and CD full of pics was delivered last week. Glad I sent it certified mails as was recommended. I am sure whatever they offer is going to be minimal, if they offer us anything at all since I also read that they are pretty bad about returning calls.  My suggestion is whatever you do, don't use this company, even if they are the lowest bid.  They will not come through as promised, it will be much more expensive than they say it will be, and they won't return your calls.
