I scheduled a moving with All State Moving and Storage on May 6, 2009 to move approximately 2 miles. When I scheduled the move the contract was sent to me with the incorrect move in date. On June 1, 2009, I but the move date on hold because I had an issue with the unit I was moving into. On June 3, I received a voice mail from the movers stating they were at my place of residence to begin my move. I emailed Sabrina to inquire why the movers would be at my place of residence on June 3 that was not my original scheduled move in date. There was a mix up and she corrected the matter. On June 23, I contacted Sabrina through email to schedule my move in date for June 29 for the movers to arrive between 12-1pm. The movers did not arrive until 2:50pm, the drivers nor the company called to tell me the drivers were running late. I called the company at 1pm to inquire on when the drivers would show up and I spoke to Miguel who kept changing his story. First Miguel stated the movers would be there in 15 minutes 1:15 and no movers, I called the company and spoke to Miguel, he said he called the movers and said they would be there at 2:15, 2:15 no movers. Again, I called and spoke to Miguel he said the movers had to get gas and would be there in 15 minutes. Also, I spoke to the owner and eh told me I am not allowed to call inquiring about the movers ETA, he said I was bothering his staff. I explained to him if this staff would have been honest with when the movers were going to arrive I would not have to call back; in addition, I made a $100 deposit. He also threaten if I call the movers would not come. Well again, it was after 2:30 and no movers finally at 2:50 they arrived to move. Since the movers arrive late, I had to pack my car and my friends car with my things to meet the time elevator constraints at my apartment complex. When I schedule the move, I mentioned to the company that I scheduled the elevator which was $400 from 2-6pm. From the moment they arrived they were operating slowly, but I tired to stay within the time limit so I was helping them load the truck. Even though there were two movers I felt like one of them was always standing around and talking on the phone. All State has a policy that you have to pay when you arrive at the new location and before they unload, well, this is when the scams and lies began. Apparently there was a $20 fuel charge on top of the 1 hour travel charge, which I was never told. The one mover said that he and I would go take care of the payment while the other mover started unloading the truck, when we finally took care of the payment the other mover was just standing there talking on his cell. When I asked the other guy about that, he said that "we don't unload until payment is taken care of"; that was the opposite of what he had told me moments earlier. The movers basically held my personal items hostage until I paid, also I had to help them unpack to speed up the process. Due to the slowness of the movers, the move was not completed in the time allotted and I incurred an additional $200 for the elevator. The move cost me $100 deposit, $358 for them to unload my items and $600 for the elevator. I could not believe it cost $1058 to move items in one bedroom (bed, bedroom furniture and boxes) approximately 2 miles. Also, they made me pay an extra hour, which wouldn't have been a big deal, but having used movers before I really didn't think that we would need it, but they wouldn't unload the truck unless I paid for that hour up front. I paid it amount and we only used 15 minutes of that additional hour. They charge by hour, not quarter or half hour. The movers were rude, slow, and unreliable this is the worse company to trust with your personal items. Again the name of this company is Allstate Moving and Storage located in Hyattsville, MD and their number is 301-277-5400. If you are looking for a RELIABLE, ONTIME, AND TRUSTWORTHY company, ITS NOT ALLSTATE MOVING AND STORAGE.
