All United Van Lines RUN AWAY !! Do not hire these sleazebags! Santa Clara California

A complete rip-off. We hired them to move a 3 bedroom apartment with 3 men. They took 10 (yes 10) hours with two trips for a local move. Reason? The company "policy" which is in the fine print will not move electronics, lawn furniture, side tables, .... the list goes on, unless you purchase packaging supplies from them at a convenient price of $20.00 a box and $6.00 a roll of tape. They also spent an hour (charged to the customer of course) folding and packing the furniture blankets they used for the move.

Spent about an hour arguing with the foreman "Dan" who was rude and impossible to work with. They took about 10 hours which includes 2 hrs overtime and two trips which are charged at double the hourly rate. He refused to move packed bags, lawn chairs bedding, claiming that these were "loose items" and should be boxed (at $20.00 a box ofcourse!). In the end we ended up moving a lot of our stuff ourselves and had to hear a final gem from "Dan" - "If you did not want a professional moving company you should have hired two men and a shopping cart." The only thing professional about this firm is that it's a professional scam!

Next week I spoke to the dispatch manager, accountant and even the owner (one Suraj Vishwanathan) for atleast a partial refund. The owner's solution? He claimed that the company does not make any money on the labor and therefore he would send the three men who moved us at my home and I should negotiate with them for a refund! Talk about unbelievably unprofessional!!

Summary: Complete scam. Bait and switch tactics. Lots of fine print. You end up moving a lot of your own stuff yourselves. STAY AWAY!!!
