In doing an internet search, somehow my moving information got to Allegiant Van Lines, who began to call and email me in June of 2013...they were one of the companies who did so. I compared quotes, information, additional fees and decided on Allegiant in late-August, finally leaving a deposit with them in September. Sadly, because of the hectic nature of moving, I didn't research sites like Rip Off Report, because I'd have saved myself a world of stress.

I could tell something wasn't right when the movers showed up. They weren't with Allegiant(although Allegiant sent me emails saying they weren't brokers) Yet they presented me Allegiant Van Lines paperwork. The movers also were dishonest in the manner which they attempted to charge other fees, then asked me to sign and initial paperwork which indicated all of these fees were disclosed before the truck was loaded, which they weren't. What the heck was I supposed to do--have them unload it all?

After the movers left, I began to investigate...suddenly the reps at Allegiant weren't answering the phones after I'd paid and gotten moved. The number of the guy who took the order was disconnected. One day later, another moving company named Liberty Relocation sent me an invoice. When I called them, they implied that Allegiant was 'out of business' and they were taking over.

I called the Dept of Transportation, who shared with me that Allegiant Van Lines was neither licensed or insured as of April 3, 2013. In a nutshell--they weren't able to engage in the business that they are engaged in. In fact, their website is still up and running.

From my interpretation of how this scam goes--Allegiant takes orders and processes payment under 'Van Lines' not Allegiant Van Lines. They then farm out orders to affiliates who take the jobs and move you, likely without insurance.

I can only imagine how and why this scheme is in existence--the sad fact is that when they have your furniture, your clothes, your paperwork, in essence they have your life in some manner. With that said--get the word out on not only this company, but any moving company that might be an affiliate.
