I placed my first order with Allegro Medical a little over a year ago and the service was good.  Online ordering was easy and the items shipped in a reasonable amount of time.  I received e-mail communications when the order was received and again when items shipped.

My most recent order was placed on November 17, 2009 and all items on the order were shown as "in stock."  However, as of December 1, the order had not shipped.  This order was for bulk supplies of personal care/medical supplies that my daughter requires for day-to-day living.

Because the order was for medical supplies, and because these items were needed sooner rather than later, and because the order had not shipped in a timely manner, I had no choice but to obtain the items elsewhere.

I canceled the November 17 order on December 1 by telephone.  The customer service representative I spoke with had no explanation for why the order had not shipped and his attitude was that he did not care.  He said he would cancel the order and process a refund.

I checked the Allegro Medical site on December 5, 2009 and it does not show that my order has been canceled.  It shows that it is still "Awaiting Shipment."

Since I had good experiences with this company when I initially did business with them, I cannot understand their current lack of customer service.  I decided to look online for reviews or complaints about Allegro Medical, and I found many!

Numerous customers are reporting that the Allegro Medical website is listing backorder items as in stock.  They are reporting that orders sit in "Awaiting Shipment" status indefinitely with no contact with the customer.  They are reporting that they have canceled orders and never got their money refunded.

I am more than a little nervous now because my daughter is disabled and her only source of income is Social Security.  She is not in a position to lose money.  However, I cannot just ignore what I am reading from other customers who are writing reviews about Allegro Medical, and too many of those reviews say their orders never shipped and they did not get their money back.

Given the increasing number of complaints from customers about Allegro Medical, I believe legal action should be taken against this company.  They are selling medical supplies on their website and people order medical supplies because they NEED them.  A good percentage of customers of medical supply companies tend to be ill or disabled with many living on fixed income.  It is an outrage that a company is allowed to go unbridled, preying on members of society who can least afford to lose money.

With the company's lack of customer service and refusal to respond to my e-mails and phone calls, I am resigned to the fact that my daughter and I will never see our money refunded.  I want to believe that Allegro Medical will do the right thing by refunding,  yet the reviews of other customers speak volumes.  I am convinced we will not get our money refunded because of complaints by many other customers who have been trying for weeks or months to get their refunds, to no avail.

We never gave up.

I kept attempting to contact the company, mostly by e-mail since there was such a long wait trying to reach customer service by phone.  E-mails I sent requested updates on the order status (initially regarding when it would ship; later on regarding the "Awaiting Shipment" blurb remaining after I had canceled the order).

I did not e-mail every day.  I kept my messages brief and to the point and sent one e-mail about every two or three days until I eventually got a reply from Allegro confirming the order had been canceled.   After that I gave them a couple days to issue a refund before I e-mailed regarding the lack of refund.

I got the refund fairly quickly after the order was canceled; I believe that was accomplished after just two e-mails asking for it.  However, the real issue I have with Allegro is no contact regarding items not being shipped and after that difficulty I had trying to get my order canceled.  So, even though I got my refund, I remain dissatisfied with Allegro Medical's customer service and will not do further business with them for that reason.

Keep trying to get resolution.  Send e-mails but don't be an e-mail pest.  Keep your e-mail inquiries brief and not rude or threatening; just ask your questions and send.  Send again a few days later if you have not heard back by then.  It might help with a faster response if you include order number(s) in all your e-mails.

Good luck.

I have a similar problem, and am as incensed as you were about the way I have been treated. Did you find the posting you made to have made the difference between resolution and simply luck?

I completed a report today prior to writing this here, in hopes to gain closure in the poor manner Allegro has handled my customer needs, and also to let folks know what may be in store for them when they order products, and get the old runaround as I (and you also) have gotten.... the first warning is the "awaiting shipment" when you check order status, days, and even weeks, after placing an order for something needed for immediate medical treatment.....very sad indeed.

I am glad you got your refund.

UPDATE

AUTHOR: Barbara - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 10, 2009

I have finally received e-mail communication from Allegro Medical stating that my order has been canceled per my request.  A refund was posted to my credit card on 12/10/09.  I am updating because I believe that my right to complain comes with a responsibility to notify others if the problem is resolved.  I no longer have a complaint against Allegro Medical but I will not be doing further business with them.
