My husband, our 7 month old baby, and I stopped into Alliance Nissan of Elizabeth City several weeks ago for a recall repair to one of our vehicles. While there, I decided to look around the lot for an upgraded version of our car. I was immediately approached by a sales representative who was more than willing to help. After I told her what I was looking for, another sales representative approached us who, again, asked us what we were looking for. Again, I explained to this new rep. that we were looking for an upgraded version of our current vehicle. When she asked for our price range, I told her that I would like to stay very close to our current loan amount but was willing to put up several thousand for a down payment. Our current loan was with BB&T at around $250 per month which had an initial term of 60 months. The agent and her manager had all of this information on hand as they required it in order to value our vehicle for trade-in.

After numerous cars were presented to us that were outside our budget, the sales representative finally decided to show us a car that matched what we were looking for. After the sales rep did her routine of "asking the manager for pricing" she told us the car would be just under $300 a month. I told her again that this would not work and that we had to be very close to the original loan. After her next "ask the manager" routine, we were approached with an offer around $280 a month, which I again declined. Finally I approached her and the manager and said that if we couldn't work out a deal at the amount I was asking, then I am patient and am more than happy to come back again when the right car comes along. They finally presented a monthly payment of around $255 along with a down payment of $3,000. After talking to my husband, we agreed that this was a fair price and shook on the deal.

My husband and I were told to sit for a while as, since the company was very busy that day, we had to wait quite some time to speak to the person in charge of loan originations. We told their employees numerous times that after being at the company for more than five hours, our child was becoming very fussy and we needed to go. When the loan officer finally approached us, we informed him, as we did the others, that we needed to get out quickly because of the baby. I told him that as long as all the paperwork is standard, just show us where to sign so we can quickly get the baby home. He was happy to agree and pointed out each part we had to sign. So we left on a good note, and I was very happy with my experience.

However, I just recently received our first loan payment and I immediately saw that the loan amount due is quite high. After looking through the paperwork, I see that the term is for 75 months (NOT FOR THE 60 MONTHS OF MY ORIGINAL LOAN), which was NEVER told to my husband or I during the entire five to six hours that we were at the dealership. I don't know how many times I could have told all the employees at the office that my loan had to be very close to what we were dealing with now. So needless to say, when I saw this paperwork today, I was, and am, left with a very sour taste in my mouth from the deceit of Alliance Nissan's staff.

My husband and I have tried calling and Emailing the company for the past week, but no one in a management position is willing to contact us back. This company is fully aware of the dishonest practice that took place, yet management has refused to make any acknowledgement to me that they are investigating this issue.

This dealership will lie to make you buy, so stay far away from this dishonest and unprofessional business. There are many other Nissan dealerships in the local area, so you would be wise to go to one of these other, more professional, establishments.

Honorable Owner Righted My Situation

AUTHOR: Amina Sansotta - ()

POSTED: Thursday, February 05, 2015

One of the owners of Alliance Nissan contacted me about a week ago.  Right from the start, he told me that this matter just came to his desk and he sincerely apologized about not one contacting me sooner.  After several conversations over the week, the owner and I were able to talk the problem out and completely evaluate both sides of the situation.  We were eventually able to come to a resolution to the problem which I am very thankful for.  The professionalism of an owner/manager to call a customer, apologize, and right a situation goes a long way.

Additional Incident

AUTHOR: Amina - ()

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2015

Within the first few days of discovering what Alliance Nissan had done, my husband contacted Nissan's corporate office about the issue.  After informing the representative of the problem, he was told that Nissan would contact Alliance Nissan directly and make sure they would contact one of us.

After about a week, the same representative called my husband back.  She had informed my husband that Alliance Nissan was called that very morning for a follow-up, where she was then told that a manager called my husband and remedied the issue.  Needless to say, neither me or my husband were ever contacted by anyone from Alliance Nissan.  After my husband explained this to her, the Nissan representative was very apologetic and informed him that, even though she would be unable to force a call from this company, she would be reporting this issue for further investigation.

Both my husband and I are further appalled by this company's actions that they would go so far as to lie to their main corporate office, as opposed to simply calling one of us to discuss their employees' blatantly fraudulent actions.

In response to Robert's post

Thank you for proving my point that this company lied to make me buy.  As stated in my original report, it was told to the dealers over and over that my loan had to be the same and that I could only pay a cash difference.  And no, this would not happen at any dealership, just dishonest and immoral ones, as both my husband and I have purchased numerous cars over the years, just not from this dealership.

Lastly, any dealership that refuses to return a customer's calls or Emails is simply unproffesional.  Again, stay clear of Alliance Nissan.

Please feel free to upload a copy of the loan document which shows that the term is for 75 months. This will give your Ripoff Report more impact. Tanya uploaded copies of her loan documents after she found out that the someone at Pinnacle Nissan apparently altered her contracts and sent them to the bank.

Just type in 505850 and click on Ripoff Report #505850 and read Tanya's Ripoff Report and view the documents that she uploaded. Good luck to you!

If you were ripped off...you let them do it.

Sorry but what you described here is a typical car deal and once you sign the paperwork...it is YOUR car.

They finally presented a monthly payment of around $255 along with a down payment of $3,000. After talking to my husband, we agreed that this was a fair price and shook on the deal.

There is nothing here about the actual PRICE of the car.

I told him that as long as all the paperwork is standard, just show us where to sign so we can quickly get the baby home.

- It was "standard" paperwork.  The paperwork had the purchase price of the car, the trade in amount, the interest rate, the length of the loan, and the monthly payment and due date., and any "extras" you may have added on.  But YOU did not read any of that.

I don't know how many times I could have told all the employees at the office that my loan had to be very close to what we were dealing with now.

- And the MONTHLY PAYMENT was very close...you just have an extra 15 months of payments.   You went in asking for an "upgrade" but wanted to spend the same amount of money?  Had you gone with the original $300/monthly payment I bet the term would have been close to the 60 months.

There are many other Nissan dealerships in the local area, so you would be wise to go to one of these other, more professional, establishments.

- You can't say that they or any other dealer would have been ANY different, especially when you fail to read what you are signing.

You need to treat this as a learning experience.

NEVER get into the "monthly payment" trap.  That is where a dealer talks only in the terms of the Monthly Payments as you never know what the price of the car is.

NEVER sign anything unless you fully understand what you are signing.  If this means you need to leave..then leave.  Or better yet, get a babysitter for your child and shop in peace without any presure.

They are the ones who are trying to sell you a car.  They need you, you don't need them.  So if they are really willing to make the deal they would hold the car and paperwork and let you come back when you had time.
