I thought this was over with since 12/26/2003 when I paid off my debt collection with Allied Interstate on behalf of Sprint PCS and now I found out that Allied Interstate never applied my money to Sprint.

Today March 17, 2007, I received another collection letter from a different collection agent on behalf of Sprint PCS (David Taylor & Associsates, LLC. stating I owe Sprint PCS and please pay now. I was so confused that I called Sprint PCS and they had all of these note on me regarding all my phone conversations with their representatives back in 2003 and 2004 but one note stated that I came back to Sprint PCS and prove that I paid off their collection but it was never credit to my account. Sprint PCS couldn't assist me and stated I need to get the money back from Allied Interstated. How the heck would I do that. Me calling a collection agent and demand my money back after 4 years. You have got to be kidding right. I paid and Allied Interstate put bad remarks on my credit. Now I have another collection on my back and I believed my credit reflect this collection which is not fair. I don't know what to do and how to handle this issues. Getting my money back from Allied Interstate and paid off this new collection letter is beyond me. What can I do? Please advise.

Junchai, here's the problem.

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Allied Interstate WAS NOT collectiong ON BEHALF of Sprint. Sprint was not involved. Sprint will collect only for a few months then they have a company called RPM who does collections for a few more months, then it gets charged off and sold to a junk debt buyer.

They [Allied Interstate] were collecting for THEMSELVES as they are JUNK DEBT BUYERS. They buy these type of old debts for pennies or less on the dollar.

NEVER speak to any debt collector on the phone.
NEVER pay any debt collector without getting the payment agreement in writing.

You will not get your money back. STAY OFF THE PHONE!! Communicate ONLY in writing AND by certified mail, return reciept requested. be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This is very important. And, DO NOT sign any letters, just print.

By the means above, send the collectors a DEBT VALIDATION request. In this request clearly deny the debt to them, and demand to see the original signed contract, as well as a full account history and itemization of charges. Also demand proof that they own the debt or have legal rights to collect it, as well as a full chain of title on the debt.

Now, until they provide you with the requested information, all collections activity must stop.

I suggest you go to the FTC website and read the FDCPA and the FCRA to learn your rights.

If it were me I would get record of my payment to Allied. Did you pay by check or credit card? If so that will make it much easier to prove. You will just have to get copies of that transaction and contact Allied with your proof.
