Allied Interstate - Ms. Brenda Upchurch Ripoff unprofessional conduct by Ms. Brenda Upchurch Greensboro North Carolina

A representative from Allied Interstate (a collection group) called my home today and became beligerant (sp?) with my 66 yr old grandmother over a check that was written to K Mart which a stop payment was placed. This check was one out of two boxes worth that were stolen from my husband and I in November of this year. The appropriate affidavits and police reports were sent to K Mart regarding this matter. I understand that it takes time for these matters to be resolved. What I have a concern about is an employee of Allied Interstate that is acting as a representative to major corporations handling themselves in such a non-professional manner when conducting their business of collecting monies owed.

First, this is business to be dealt with between me, my husband, and the store in which the check was "written". Therefore, my grandmother does not deserve to be verbally abused by individuals calling concerning a matter that does not involve her.
The particular individual who called gave her name as Ms. Upchurch and states that she is employed with Allied Interstate in Greensboro, North Carolina and gave an ID# of 2131.

I called and spoke with Ms. Upchurch myself. I reported to her that she had better not ever call my home again in this manner and how dare her speak to my grandmother that way. Ms. Upchurch stated that she did not in fact speak to my grandmother harshly, implying that my grandmother had lied about the incident. This made me angry. I continued to reiterate that she not call my home anymore. Ms. Upchurch became so ugly to me over the phone that I admit I lost my temper with her and used some not so nice language. Additional phone calls were made in which I attempted to speak to her supervisor. She reported that her supervisor is Ms. Ross and that she will not return from vacation until January 1, 2005.

If within the first 5 minutes of having a conversation with Ms. Upchurch it deteriorated to this point and she displayed her willingness to not act in a professional manner so quickly, I have no doubt that she was equally as unprofessional with my grandmother.

I certainly felt that someone should be notified of her unprofessional conduct and that while our conversation did completely deteriorate as a result of my angry outburst, such an outburst never would have occurred if I was not acting in defense of my grandmother. There is a thing called respect for elders.

I intend to pursue filing a complaint against Ms. Upchurch until she is disciplined by her supervisor for her unprofessional conduct.

She is not welcome to call my home again, however, I understand that legally the agency has the authority to contact us as needed until the stolen and forged check matter is resolved. I welcome calls from anyone else employed with Allied Interstate in Greensboro, NC other than Ms. Upchurch. This being said, I will pursue harassment charges against her personally should she call my home again. To reiterate, I have no issue with another representative of Allied contacting me or my husband.
