On April 9, 2008, we contracted with Allied Waste for a dumpster to be delivered to our home, with a $200.00 deposit. The dumpster was delivered as requested. The first time we asked for them to come and dump the dumpster and leave the dumpster, we ran into problems. We received a voicemail saying that while they were servicing us, their truck was overloaded and they "broke" our driveway and closed the gate. We were shocked to see that not only was the driveway "broke" it was completely caved in and all the pavement was in pieces. When we contacted Allied Waste we were told they would take care of it. After a few days with no one coming out to fix our driveway (reminder, we can not even pull into our driveway and are parking on the street at this time) we were told that we could meet them at Home Depot and they would buy the cement for us to fix it. Since we had not received any other information on how they would fix it, and we needed this fixed immediatly as we were moving and couldn't get into our driveway, we fixed it. They bought us 10 bags of cement. To fix the driveway it took 25 bags of cement and 2 days taken off of work. They are now calling saying that we have to pay our bill in full. This is ridiculous. We already paid $200.00, lost $300 in wages to have to fix this, and lost our rental deposit of $600.00 when we moved due to the driveway being damaged!! We are already out $1100.00 just for going with a wrong company that don't know what they are doing! When we told them we would not pay the additional $171.32 in charges due to the problems we had, we were told that we are being sent to collections immediatly.

After reporting this to the BBB, we were told that we signed a release. However, when signing the release, we were told that it removed further responsibilty for the company and for us as the customer, which meant that we were not obligated for the charges.

Everyone that we have dealt with has been rude and unethical, given the problems that we have had due to their negligence.

Allied Waste Rip Off

AUTHOR: Steve - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Welcome to the club.
I own a 100+ year old historic landmark building in Ogden, Utah.
Allied Waste had been contracted by my former management company to provide a 4 yard dumpster at the property and pick-up service bi-weekly.
The truck that Allied Waste uses to drive down my driveway and pick-up the dumpster is so heavy that it actually collapsed the underground drain pipes for the building's exterior drainage system.
Allied's response?  We're not responsible for it.

I feel your pain.
