I purchased national 600 plan for $45.00 per month, the only place I received service was along the interstate, 15 miles from home, contacted Alltel numerous times, was told to switch to total freedom plan for $69.00 per month and it would take care of the problem, which it has not.
I was transferred to Pikeville, Kentucky and the phone was useless after leaving Kingsport, Tennessee. I contacted Alltel again on numerous occasions, informing them of the interstate phone, with no results. I filed a complaint against Alltel with the Division of Consumer Affairs in Nashville, Tennessee and they were unsuccessful in mediating the dispute. They told me I may want to sue under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977.
Alltel is the biggest ripoff of any company I know of, one thing for sure is none of my friends will be buying from this big ripoff.

I can fully appreciate how you feel about Alltell. My name is Douglas and I am from Morristown, TN. I had the same kind of problem back in about 1998. Terrible service, the cutoff was down about Jefferson City. The service would just go away when you left Morristown. I called and complained, but nothing was done. I was told that I would have to pay a $250.00 diconnect contract breaking fee if I stopped service. I spoke with my lawyer and they told me that I was in no way obligated to pay the diconnect fee. He advised me to tell them to "just cut the thing off". Well, I told them I wanted service terminated and I was NOT paying the disconnect fee.. They cut service and all was well..
Alltell had to be the sorriest excuse for cellphone service I have ever seen.
Never again.. never..
