I contracted with Duane Charping "Owner"(according to the card he gave us) of Aloha pools to put in a concrete slab for our new hot tub. At that time, we asked him what it would cost to fix the slab around our existing pool and to check for leaks. He said he would look at it and give us a quote. The next day he came back and told us that it would cost around $27,000 to redo the decking around the pool and check for leaks. Jokingly, I said, holy crap how much would it cost for a new pool?

Duane said he would check on prices and would get back to us. I told him I wanted a sports pool and he said that this was the time to get a new pool because Aloha was trying to get rid of their excess pools and he thought they had a few sports pools in stock and could probably get a great deal if we acted fast. He said he would check and get back to us. The next day he came back over to the house and said they (Aloha) did have a sports pool in stock and would sell the shell for half price ($15,000), but they would only hold it for a week so we had to make a decision fast.

Viv and me talked about it and decided if we were going to spend that kind of money, we might as well get a new pool instead of fixing the old one we didn't like anyway. After much discussion about what we wanted with the pool, Duane gave us a completed price of $36,000. We researched Aloha pools and decided that they were a reputable company and had a great warranty on their installed pools. Duane gave us several brochures and a DVD about Aloha Pools plus he gave us a basket with Aloha pools on it with towels, wine glasses, and a bottle of Perrier.

They began demolishing the old pool and then dug the hole for the new pool destroying all of our landscaping and most of our back fence in the process. The pool arrived soon after and was put in the new hole that Duane and crew dug. No paper work was given to us with the warranty and we asked Duane where it was. Duane told us that he would get it to us as soon as possible. I asked him several times about the warranty paperwork and he kept telling me that he had it and would give it to us soon.

He never gave us any paperwork on the new pool. We picked out pavers and tile to go on and around the pool which Duane delivered and installed.  The pavers were incorrectly installed and were never tamped down, plus they put sealer on the tiles which ruined the color of the tiles. Duane told us he contracted with the paver company to come out and fix the pavers. That never happened. After about three or four months of work on our pool the workers started showing up late or not showing up at all. When the workers did show up they would have to redo just about everything to try and make it right.

We have a contract that states we will get one year of pool service free, a Whisper Flow Pump and filter, a Kreepy Crawler vacuum cleaner, and a 75 year warranty...Here's what we got...Aloha Pools plumbed the pool wrong, installed the wrong filter and pump and put in the wrong size pipes according to Leisure Pools and Leslie Pools. He installed the heater backwards and put the wrong type of joints and flex piping in the plumbing. To fix all of the above ground incorrect piping and install the correct pump and filter, then reinstall the heater it will cost us at a minimum $3,000.00 (not including digging up all of the underground piping), that is what was quoted to us from Leslie Pools and Leisure Pools said they could not beat that price.

We have never received the Kreepy Crawler Vacuum cleaner, pool service, or a warranty for the pool. Recently the filter exploded, spewing water everywhere and if we had not been home it would have flooded our backyard, the neighbors, and ruined the pump, filter and possibly the pool. On top of that, the heater was on and it could have blown up had we not been home...if that's not criminal, I don't know what criminal is. In effect, we don't have a working pool.
