Alpha Core Construction, George Metry Ripoff Took Money for Remodel Virtually No Work Done Won't Pay for Supplies or Labor Chicago Illinois

This man, George Metry, owner of Alpha Core Construction, is a very disreputable contractor. The experience we've had with him has been well documented - with the Better Business Bureau, the Palatine Police Department and also with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

As of today, 9/16/05, here are the facts.

1.) The Illinois Attorney General's Office has indicated that there are a total of five (5) open complaints filed with them against George Metry and/or Alpha Core. There's been an attorney assigned to investigate George Metry and/or Alpha Core Construction. We recently received a letter from Lisa Madigan's office (IL Attorney General) stating that they will not be able to mediate for us given that they already have a prior lawsuit against George Metry and/or Alpha Core Construction.

We've learned from them that four (4) complaints were filed (and cases opened) in 2005, while one was from 2004.

2.) The Better Business Bureau report indicates that "this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to failure to respond to one or more complaints and or two or more otherwise unresolved complaints."

The report goes on further to state that "the Bureau processed a total of 5 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 5 complaints closed in 36 months, 5 were closed in the last year.

These complaints concerned:

2 Advertising Issues,
1 Unfulfilled Contract,
1 Customer Service, and
1 Credit or Billing Issues.

They were closed as:

1 Assumed Resolved,
3 Unresolved, and
1 No Response."

3.) We signed the contract with Alpha Core on 11/7/04. Of all the employees and/or workers who, to our knowledge, were employed/associated with George Metry and Alpha Core when we signed the contract, NONE of them are still with George or Alpha Core.


None of this information had been available to us prior to signing the contract with Alpha Core on 11/7/04. You're reading this now, so it's available to you. We STRONGLY CAUTION YOU AGAINST ANY DEALINGS with George Metry or Alpha Core Construction. Save yourself money, time, frustration, heartache and tears - find someone by "word of mouth" to do the work you're considering.

Mr. Metry is aware of who this woman is, and recalls what the exact situation was. First off, the plumbing and electrical work was completed. Second off, everytime the contractors were sent over to her property, they came back complaining about her behavior and "needs" and refused to go back and work on her property. They did not want to deal with her and left. The contractors were changed several times in hopes that we could find somebody who was willing to work with her, but that was not possible. As said before, numerous times workers were sent over, but there was not a single worker that wanted to deal with this "crazy woman". We sent out people who did not even speak english to complete the job, and even they refused to work with her due to her behavior.

As far as the comments say that her phone calls were not answered/returned, rest assured, there is ALWAYS a secretary or customer service employee in the office during business hours to take these calls and serve to the customer's needs. All calls made during business hours are answered, and returned with a follow up.

Lastly, Anne still owes us $3,000, so it's ironic that she's complaining about services she paid for that weren't provided, when she still owes us money for services that WERE provided. She should get a hobby, and find something better to do than be a dramaqueen who enjoys causing conflict, and spreading slander on the internet about people. Appearently she has too much time on her hands.

We contracted with Alpha Core Construction on 11/7/04 for the complete remodel of our master bathroom. Work was to be completed by 12/4/04 per the contract. Only demolition was done as of the initial RipOffReport entry we submitted on 2/11/05.

Since then, we filed a police report against George Metry and/or Alpha Core Construction for CONSUMER FRAUD and/or HOME REPAIR FRAUD. Only after a detective started calling George Metry (president and owner) and every subcontractor of his (actual or potential) from whom we acquired names and phone numbers, did George arrange for some additional, minimal, work to take place.

Between 2/26/05 and 4/18/05, nearly two (2) months, only two and one half (2.5) more days of work were done: 1 day of plumbing and 1.5 days of electrical. Between 1/24/05 and 4/18/05, nearly three (3) months, we were left without power to our dishwasher and garbage disposal. The kitchen ceiling is cracked and drooping due to the plumber dropping some tools. The mirror in the hallway bath remains scratched and affixed with Liquid Nails in a manner that shows the seam of the wallpaper.

As of today, 5/4/05, nearly six (6) months from the signing of the contract on 11/7/04, our master bathroom remodel project REMAINS UNFINISHED. This is exactly five (5) months after it was to be finished according to the contract (12/4/04). Between 1/6/05 and 4/6/05, we were told on fifteen (15) separate occasions that work would resume on certain dates and then no one showed up. The subcontractor George hired (having done some plumbing and electrical work) will not continue working because George will not provide him with any further payments. George hasn't paid the electrician responsible for the 1/2 day of work to fix the myriad of problems created by the original electrician.

George seldom answers the phone or returns our phone calls.
