Al's Half Price Mattress scam mattress John gullo lied damaged mattress store port saint lucie vero jensen beach Stuart Florida

It's a sad day in Port Saint Lucie / Stuart Florida when a local mattress store goes out their way to rip off a client. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to me on September 18, 2006 after entering " Al's Half Price Mattress " located in Stuart FL.

I spoke with a gentleman by the name of John Gullo. I spent over an hour looking and testing the different mattresses that were available and I finally found the king size mattress of my dreams! Mr. Gullo explained that if I paid him cash today, he would have it delivered to my house free of charge and give me a 15% discount. Of course, I agreed to this arrangement and quickly paid him in all cash and left the store to make room for my new mattress.

As agreed upon, I waited for my mattress and nothing came, so I called the office to find that John "wasn't available". Two days had gone by and still no mattress, 3 days, and NOTHING! Well, I was furious at this point and decided to visit the store myself. John was indeed inside of the store, and when questioned about this issue, he stated that he had never seen me before! I was shocked and outraged and asked to speak with a manager. He stated that the manager was not available, and I proceeded to leave (after yelling a few explatives. I went back to the store the next day and John was not around, so I asked the available salesperson (Devan, I believe) if I could speak with a manager, and explained my situation to him. This is when I found out the worst news of all!! The employee laughed and told me that John Gullo was the owner of the store!!! All this time, John posed to be a "commissioned salesperson" and was the actual OWNER! I never got my money back, and I'm in the process of taking him to small claims curt. I will update everyone on the court case.
