Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

This person leased our barn, never paid, and was evicted for non-payment and endangerment. When she left, she took a lot of our property, had destroyed some of our property, and purposely endangered horses that belonged to boarders at our barn. She lied to boarders, spread rumors about our business, and harassed us. She tried to sell one of our horses without our permission. She is a horse trader in the area, selling on sites such as and, where she offers a money-back guarantee, but she has been known to stop payment on her refund checks due to nonsufficient funds. DO NOT PURCHASE A HORSE FROM HER, DO NOT LET HER BOARD AT YOUR FACILITY, AND DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET HER LEASE OR RENT YOUR FACILITY. The one boarder that left with her has returned, and people that purchased horses from her have called and complained that she lied about the horses age, health, condition, and temperament. BEWARE!

And the saga continues

AUTHOR: oldenburg_breeder - (United States of America)

Amanda or Mandy as a first name.  Last names include McDougall, Manown, Manow, Matricciani, Forbes, Seiler.  She also uses her daughter for a name to sell by, which is Ashlen Forbes.  Her business names have changed many times as well:  Happy on Hooves, Your Next Horse, Thoroughbred Prospects, Brummel Horse Farm, and more.  She also has left a wake of unpaid barn owners behind, including several barns that she was evicted from in Maryland, too.

Just do a ripoffreport search on every name, barn, and business name above, and you will see just that she just recently (as in the last month) was evicted from Brummel Horse Farm for non-payment and she also left with more than one person's pre-paid lesson money.  She has also, once again, changed her business name (thought she said that she would not do that again).

For every report, she has her family and friends come on and post fake positive replies.  Jonas turned out to be a combination of her brother and of her.  Steer clear of this unpredicatable ripoff artist.

my 2 cents

AUTHOR: TWHgelding - (United States of America)

My experience with Amanda gives me the opinion of her that she is a horse trader in the traditional, negative sense of the word.  She really trashed the previous barn manager to me (which I did not see when I dealt with her) and lied to me many times and didn't keep her end of the bargain.  This, I am sure, does not mean that she is the devil himself and that every customer walks away unhappy.  My opinion is - if she feels you have plenty of money - she will give you a reasonably honest deal so you will come back and she can get more of it.  If she thinks it's a one-time deal, BEWARE!  But, that is just my experience, which was a bad one, and to each his own.  I just wish I had seen some of these comments before-hand.  I can assure you I wouldn't have chanced it, no matter how much money I had.........I paid dearly for dealing with her.

p.s.  I never met the other lady in question, so I cannot comment on that side of this debate.

Not the person I know

AUTHOR: Kelly D. - (United States of America)

Let me just say up-front that I am not a horse person. I have ridden a few times and have mucked a stall or two but that is the extent of my involvement with horses. The times I have been around horses and had a riding lesson here or there have been through my relationship with Amanda.

Amanda has been my nearest and dearest friend for 16 years. There have been times in my life when the only person to turn to has been her and every time she has been there for me. She sat with me in the emergency room in the middle of the night when I didnt know what was wrong with my son. She took a litter of 3 week-old kittens that had been abandoned at my house and bottle fed them to ensure their survival. Amanda has been my maid of honor not once but twice (my mistake not hers and she did try to warn me the first time). She took me to and from work and watched my son when life was at its worst for me. We have laughed together, cried together and questioned the world together. Amanda is one of those friends that never judges you, always listens, would do anything for you and always has your best interest at heart.

The things being written here are not the person I know. I have witnessed some of her transactions and have always been impressed with the absolute honesty with which she conducts business. I have seen her turn away potential buyers because she didnt believe there was a horse in her barn that fit the buyer. She is more interested in the well-being of the horses than she is about making money. Amanda is a horse lover through and through. If you had a problem with her or one of her horses I would have to guess you didnt contact her and honestly discuss the issue(s). If you had she would have done anything in her power to ensure both you and your horse were happy.

Thanks Amanda (Mandy) for all of the years behind us, all of the lessons you have taught me and all of the years ahead of us that I have to look forward to.

Happy Customer

AUTHOR: Ellie - (United States of America)

Over the past few years, I have purchased 3 horses from Amanda.  I started with 1 and went back 2 more times!  I was very happy with Amanda's professionalism.  I found her to be friendly, honest, and easy to work with.  I will be looking for a pony in the next few years for my son and Amanda will be my first phone call.

Sounds more like a personal conflict!

AUTHOR: Ladydressage - (United States of America)

I just to say that knowng Amanda on a personal level I can't believe all you are stating, but even if some of it is sounds more like a personal conflict. I do know that Amanda has strived to corrected any misconfusion that happened in the past in her business by changing the following: getting signed purchase agreements, disclosure of where the horse orginates, TB's will not be sold to anyone who is not working with a professional trainer and the horses race records will be disclosed, a vet out form or vetting form for each horse prior to purchase is also now in place payable by the purchaser, but if declined is signed by the purchaser as "they declined the vet exam".  You can't please all of the people all of the time...especially horse people.

Amanda for my horse sale.

AUTHOR: Chelsey - (United States of America)

I bought an OTTB from Amanda Matricciani about 5 years ago. I was young and looking for a project horse. Amanda was very attentive to my needs and acted in a professional, yet friendly manner. Amanda welcomed me to her farm and showed me a few horses that she had to my standards, taking into consideration all my desires and needs.

Amanda allowed me to her farm every afternoon for a trial session. In these sessions she allowed me to ride the horse I was interested in. During the sale Amanda kept nothing a secret. It is obvious she has a passion for it and enjoys what she does.

At the time of my purchase, a very well known and recommended equine veternarian in the local area was also looking to purchase a horse from Amanda. I know the vet and they did purchase the horse and had no issues in the future.

When I bought my horse I knew he was young and "green". He had a minor injury on his leg from typical young horse behavior. Amanda had made it very clear that if he needed penicillin to contact her and she would pay for it. Because the injury was so minor it was not needed, but Amanda stayed in contact to check on the health of my horse.

I purchased my horse from Amanda and have him to this day. He is an absolute joy and I would never second guess Amanda's intentions, etc. I would not think twice about buying a horse from Amanda and have referred her to many people in the "horse world".

I will take a lie detector

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

Whoever you are I am willing to take a lie detector and a drug test. I thought that this thing died but one of my friends told me that this was getting out of control. When can I take it? Where do I go? I would like to clear my name from this crazy situation. If anyone has purchased a horse please utilize the guarantee. If you are not happy just return the horse for a refund minus $500. Vet the horse out, pull a drug test, whatever you want to do in the 10 days is your business.

A new guarantee...

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

She's recently changed her guarantee to the following:
If for any reason, within 10 days, you are not happy with your purchase you can return the horse to us for a refund of the purchase price minus a $500 re-listing fee. It is that simple. Our goal is to have happy horses and riders!
If you would like to opt out of the guarantee you can reduce the asking price of any of our horses by $500.

She has some very nice pictures of the horses currently available including one named CC. I'm wonderingis that Amanda in the photograph marked First Day Home?

Jonas has proposed that they submit to polygraph and drug testing. What kind of questions would he ask these women? After reading your responses on the thread where he trashes Dr. Devi, I can only imagine what they'd be like. Then again, I don't blame either of these ladies for not wanting to submit to testing initiated by such a person.

anyone can post hearsay

AUTHOR: Jonas - (U.S.A.)

Hearsy is not acceptable in court, but is is ok on ripoffreport. As always I follow through. The only mistake I made is not inputing quotes. I reached mrs. matricciani by phone to discuss the matter and the info I listed on her report is all accurate and true according to mrs. matricciani, and i believe her. Would a business owner in a dispute admit that there are other disgruntled individuals? I wouldn't. I informed mrs. matricciani that she neglected to leave contact info after she challenged any unhappy consumers to contact her. I offered to advocate her claims by leaving real solid contact info, she agreed and i posted said info. I believe a person with an iq of 70 can post anything they want, I could of easily edited the name to read'AMANDA HUNT VALLEY' just as anyone else could. I have now decided to be impartial in my writings. I know Dr. rathod so I will have a friend contact her by phone in order to protect my identity. If you don't believe me now hear this. I have a sollution that is fail-safe: I propose that Dr. Devi Rathod-Hardesty and Amanda Matricciani agree to partaking in polygraph examinations. If both parties respond I will compose twenty to thirty questions deriving from comments made by involved parties. I will pay lost wages, travel time to test site and the total cost of testing. I don't know of any accredited testing facillities in southern pa or northern md, but I know of several in Washington D.C. Like I said I will pay travel time and lost wages. If BOTH parties agree I will compose the questions and contact testing facillities. The only thing I ask in return is the agreement of both parties that I have control of testing results, and that both parties agree to drug testing on the day of testing, that is to rule out the use of narcotics that may alter test results. The tests are expensive and I don't want either party to cry foul. The results will then become my property to do with what I wish, God bless America. I will refuse to share any info from test until it is made public, and I meen PUBLIC. I don't think ripoffreport is a suitable vessel for such info. If BOTH parties agree I will have an attorney draw up a document giving sole control and ownership of test results. I think it is time the real story comes out. STAND AND BE TESTED. The polygraph has come a long way since its inception. One may argue it is not totally accurate, I agree but it is accurate in detecting deception. What else is there to say? Lets see who has something to hide! By the way the questions will be the same for both parties.

I am jonas

AUTHOR: Jonas - (U.S.A.)

I am amazed at how you people won't let go and live on. If any of the parties involved feel they are owed or are victims, CALL THE POLICE.

You people are obviously not capable of solving you problems like adults, or even as civillized citizens of the greatest country on the face of the Earth. Why do you want to hurt eachother? The Lord Our Father Jesus Christ died on the cross for Our sins. In celebration of his birth I beg and plead that you people that you do the honorable thing and drop this nonsense. It hurts me to see You people actively trying to ruin eachothers lives. To devi, would you be happy to see amanda in a bad car accident, or to be broke and penniless living on the street? Amanda, would you be happy to see D lose her farm, or become ill? I hope not. Enjoy your time here on Earth and be glad that you live in a country that you can choose how to live your lives'. Is this how you have decided to live? As vindictive back-stabbers who cannot find the good in the time you spent together. Did you guys learn anything from eachother? I suggest amanda and d meet somewhere public and discuss their problems, and hug eachother. If you hate someone too much to hug them, seek help. there are good people out there. It is never to late to change D. From what I understand you have been actively trying to ruin Amanda's business, why? Did she hurt you that much? Amanda, you have accused D of breeding a 28 year old mare. D, can you provide dental or vet records proving otherwise? If so do it. And Devi if you claim Amanda stole from you, call the police, it is the Law's job to handle that situation, not your's. Amanda could sue you for slander/libel if you cannot prove it. Amanda has invited you to see if your property is at her farm. Devi it does not get any more reasonable than that. That is a show of innocense. Of course she could of thrown out anything she could stole, but then why take it in the first place? To hurt you? If she stole to hurt you she would have written bad things about you first to hurt you, and Devi I think you would admit you started the bad-mothing. Am I wrong? prove me wrong please!!! prove me wrong that you two are not backstabbing liars!!!! To bryan why are you involved? you admit to never meeting Amanda and you have known devi for less than a year. If it is your intention to impress devi, let your intention's be known. She is a married woman and only a snake would usurp the sacred vows of man and wife, and the peace and dignity of the state where they wed. THIS HAS GONE FAR ENOUGH!! You people are beginning to look like losers. The reason I am involved is because I know Dr. devi Rathod-hardesty and I posted negative comments about her in response to her smear campaign against Mrs. Matricciani. I don't know Mrs. Matricciani, but I do know the nature of Dr. Rathod and I thought it was unfair of her to trash Mrs. Matricciani and try to ruin her good name. this can be the end of this or just the beginning. I would rather see it end but if it doesn't I will enjoy getting to the bottom of this. I have the resources to bring the truth into the light. I am so upset because I just responded to rebuttals to my own report concerning this matter and I felt relieved that I said my peace, but then I read what Devi and Bryan wrote in response to amanda's rebuttal. Devi, it is never too late. Remember I said that.
Bryan from Highlands MD, I am requesting that you prove you are not of questionable character. it would be very easy for me to find out for myself. You scare me a little Bryan, you need to prove that your investigations of Amanda did not go as far as ascertaining her home address. I will be watching for your rebuttal. non-action will result in an investigation of you. We all know of middle-aged men who go to far on the computer. I will not sleep well until I feel he is not of that description. He at least deserves the chance to defend himself. So Bryan, download the contents of your PC to a zip drive or provide your PC's IP address and post on ripoffreport if you had done so. I will then contact you on your home phone in order to recieve info in accordance with state and local laws. I will be watching. Lets us all agree that someone is lying or mislead. I am not lying when I say I am now personally involved.

here is how one can tell the truth from lies

AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)

I invite anyone to stop by and talk with any of our boarders, who stayed through both barn managers (717-229-9884). They will tell you the truth. All stayed but one, and she has returned to this barn because she found out the truth after being used by Amanda, too. You may have noticed, Amanda did not say that she ever paid the money that she owed on the lease, nor did she tell you that she was here as a boarder for several months prior to leasing our barn. I live above the barn, and she knew me before she leased it. If I was not right as she said, she would have known that. The boarders that have stayed through Amanda's previous manager's tenure can tell you that Amanda talked badly about the first manager after she left. Amanda and she were involved in purchasing horses at various auctions, and brought horses that were ill to the barn without proper isolation from the rest of the herd. TWO of our mares (not one) lost their pregnancies after being exposed, and neither mare was 23. They were both 20 in 2005 when the pregnancies were lost. While Amanda was here, another infection was introduced into the stable. Amanda told everyone that it was due to my sport horse being brought back from my trainer, but the attending vet stated to two of our boarders recently that it was due to the auction horses being improperly quarantined at the stable. I had asked for a post-mortem on the near-term foal that we lost, but our vet recommended against it, stating that any current testing method would be inconclusive for loss due to a first-trimester exposure to EHV-1 or Rhino. We also followed local regulatory procedure for disposal, and the foal went to a rendering plant. One cannot simply bury a horse on property in our town unless you want to be fined, as is true in many states and counties who are worried about ground water contamination. The foal was put in a plastic bag and into the horse trailer until it was picked up for rendering by a neighbor kind enough to relieve us of such a devastating responsibility. Several boarders here would attest to the fact that I cried and was depressed for many days, including the man who picked her up for us, and also our neighbors.

I, too, have all original emails to and from Amanda, so if she sends them to you, I would like to send you the ones I have to see if they match. Anyone can edit a forwarded email. I am not afraid of her sending original emails out at all. I will send them as well, for there is nothing in my emails that would indicate that I am mean, intimidating, or in any way off-kilter in personality.

Here is another good example of how she twists things: We bought a smaller quarter horse from her that she said came from out west. He had permanent scarring on his legs and scratches on either side of his neck. I made a comment on an email wondering if they could have come from a bobcat. It was just a comment, and I never demanded that she do something about it, and a certainly never even came close to implying that it happened here at our stable, especially because he came here with those scars, and everyone knows it. She is very clever at twisting the truth, but if you look closely, you will see the discrepancies. As an aside, I do happen to know that we have bobcats here in Pennsylvania, because they are hunted:

She did give me a horse, but that wasn't to placate me (we had not started arguing yet, because I had not yet asked her for the money that she owed me, nor had I yet demanded that she fix my horse trailer that she trashedthat's when all the trouble started). She gave me the horse because she had sold it as a 12 year old when it was actually 20, and the people returned him. She tried to then sell him as an 18 year old (after two dentist confirmed that he was 20), and could not sell him. She was going to take him to the auction, and asked me to take him instead. She said she wanted him to have a good home, and she knew that I liked him, and she wanted me to get rid of another horse that I had that she didn't like. We have sworn statements from people who witnessed the whole deal.

The horse she gave me was NOT the horse that had the blistering on the inside of his lipsit was the one she sold us from out west. And I have the vet records to prove that I did, in fact, have my vet out to check him. She, of course, never told us about the blisterswe found them after we purchased him from her. He was playing with the bit a lot, so we had a look inside to see if something could be bothering him. I did not tell people that he had Hoof and Mouth, which does not effect horses. What I told people in the barn was that I was not happy that Amanda did not check those blisters on him before bringing him to the farm, and that there were recent outbreaks of Vesicular Stomatitis out west (from where this horse supposedly came). I was not at all happy with the risks she was taking with all of our horses.

Amanda can put you in touch with the young girl who held the first lease on our barn, a girl with no previous experience and had never owned a horse before, a girl that was in business with Amanda buying auction horses, a girl who also did not isolate the horses properly (we lost three boarded horses because their owner became extremely angry with both her and Amanda for that reason), a girl that Amanda had also complained about (again, boarders here will tell you that they heard those complaints from her). Of course, somebody that we kicked out of here is not going to be happy with us. Amanda will tell you, as she has others, that both of them gave US notice that they were leaving, but not true. The first girl signed and dated the letter that we gave her, asking her to leave, and our lawyer has all the records for when we had to evict Amanda, and all the boarders were here for that, too.

The new manager knows all about Amanda, and has known me for some time. This time, I leased the barn to somebody I knew, and somebody with years of experience and official credentials. The new manager also knows several people that had previous dealings with Amanda. The new manager is familiar with both of our reputations, and would be happy to talk with anyone truthfully about what she knows.

Now, look at the second rebuttal, where Amanda poses as someone else (Jonas of Hanover, PA), yet she gives her email address and cell phone number. She offers a 30 day written guarantee, but she doesn't always return the money when you return the horse. I can put you in touch with a girl that Amanda cancelled the refund check on the day she wrote it. The horse was returned in poor condition because it was sent out in that same poor condition, and the horse did not pass the vet check. The vet advised the girl to return the horse. We have several people here at the barn that knew the poor condition of the horse when it left here, and the girl had the horse for less than 2 weeks. The girl has repeatedly asked for the money back, and has had to initiate a lawsuit to try to recover it.

Amanda has repeatedly played off of the first experience the young barn manager, although she had no complaints until we asked her for the money she owed us and the repair of our trailer, which she was given free use and abused the privilege. We got along just fine until that point.

There are others that have had dealing with Amanda that will be filing rip off reports shortly on this web site. I am not the only person that has been burned by her.

This is completely untrue and Devi said the same thing about the previous barn manager

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

These statements completely upset me and have no validity. I leased the farm from DEvi Rathod- Hardesty for 3 months. In that time I started to notice that things were just not so normal with her. It first started when she bad-mouthed the previous barn manager, who I am good friends with. She said things about her that were completely untrue. Devi told me that her 23 year old horse miscarried a foal because of the previous barn manager. I knew this was untrue and Devi never even bothered to have the vet out to do a necropsy. She actually threw the dead foal in a trash bag and put it in the back of a pickup to be taken to the dump. I was so upset by this complete lack of compassion for her animal that I started to look for a new place to lease. She told me that her horse was attacked by a bobcat out in the pasture and wanted to know what I would do to rectify this situation. I did not know that there are bobcats in southern PA and I find it hard to believe that a bobcat would attack a horse. I have the original e-mails from Devi if anyone would like for me to forward them. Devi became increasingly uncomfortable to be around and I feverishly looked for a new facility. I gave DEVI a horse that I had to try to pacify her. She then told everyone that the horse had hoof and mouth disease which is not true and a vet never looked at the horse. I am more than willing to forward e-mails that DEvi has sent to me so you can see what type of person she really is. I am also willing to put you in touch with people that have leased the farm from her and had the same problems. This is the first time that I have spoken about this publicly and I just want to forget about that terrifing 3 months that I spent there. I hope that the new barn manager is able to read this so that she is informed about the type of person Devi is. Please feel free to contact me if you would like testimonials from my many satisfied clients.
