I have purchased an ipad on Amazon in March 2016. The device arrived SEALED as I purchased a NEW iPad. However when I verified the serial number on the back of the box and device itself I was surprised to see that the warranty was only valid till November. I contacted Apple explaining to them it's a new iPad however they told me it's been activated since November of 2015! My frustration is not that i was sent out a previously owned Ipad (let's pretend it was by mistake) but that the seller took the right to seal an used product and sell it as if it is new! What is the point of a seal? Is to verify that a product is new. Why would you take the liberty of re-sealing something unless you intend on pass it as new? No sticker on it saying pre-owned. No markings of any sorts. A brand new look. If I haven't checked the serial number I would have kept it and if an issue arises in 6 months and I go to Apple i have the surprise of finding out that I'm out of warranty. This is a scenario that many people went through I am sure because they didn't expect to be scammed in such a way. It was definitely a shock for me to come across such a practice in a civilized country. I don't believe it was a mistake. I do believe Amazon is covering up such scams as they didn't allow me to post an honest review. I have tried reviewing the purchase half a dozen times every time it bounces back. I believe the such sellers share the profits with Amazon. They sell used/refurbished products as new and if a person doesn't check (as many wouldn't because it is sealed!) and the return time expires, great success, they made good money. I managed to find a few reports with the exact same issue I had, complaining how Amazon didn't allow them to post their reviews. By doing so, Amazon keeps the sellers name clean and more people buy from the seller=more $$$ for both. I will never trust buying an expensive item, especially electronics from a third party seller through Amazon. It has become a street market where you can get scammed without knowing it.
