Amazon.com Amazon Amazon refunded money to buyer & never returned merchandise North Seattle Washington
Hello, I have been a loyal Amazon customer since 2007 & an Amazon prime customer for almost 2 years. I have purchased numerous items on Amazon & have always trusted them with my business. However, this is the first transaction that I have been a part of as a seller & have had an abysmal experience. I sold a pair of Martin Logan ESL speakers for $1454.98. They were $700 a piece plus shipping. However, I never received compensation because the full amount was refunded to the buyer without giving me the ability to appeal this refund because I didn’t go through the appropriate channels & also unable to login to my sellers account for some time. Initially, the buyer contacted me stating only one of the speakers had a foot that was damaged during shipment. I contacted UPS when the buyer said it was damaged. He said he would like to keep the speakers but would like the broken foot repaired. I’ve come to find out that since then the buyer says he has repaired the foot. To my best assumption it looks like it came off during shipment & he probably screwed the foot back on. I had insurance on these speakers so when I contacted UPS they said they would come out & inspect them to have the speaker foot repaired. They went to the buyer’s residence to inspect the speakers, but the buyer refused & I was told by UPS that he canceled the claim. Again, the only thing wrong with the one of the speakers was the foot of the speaker had dislodged & probably easily fixed by screwing it back on. Other than that they looked completely brand new as they were less than 6 months old. I purchased them on Amazon, but my wife recently quit work to stay home to be with our 4 & 2 year old daughters. I really needed to sale these speakers because we are living on a very fixed income & needed the money. Also, it was not very practical for me to own such an expensive pair of speakers. The buyer Michael Oleson filed an A to Z claim which I did in fact email him & contacted UPS but of course there was no resolution because the buyer refused to let them inspect the speakers. Although, I did not logon to my Amazon account & respond through their messaging system, there is documentation that I did in fact respond. I received his email & replied to it through my email. UPS never compensated me for the damage because they were not able to inspect the speakers because he had discarded the packaging, & refused to let UPS into his residence to inspect the speakers & canceled the claim. I imagine because the damage was very minor & he had already been refunded the entire amount of this transaction. This is my first time selling an item on Amazon & I had difficulty logging onto my account because it kept saying my debit card was invalid. Without my knowledge the whole entire amount of the purchase $1454.98 was refunded to him. Later, I entered same debit card into my Amazon account & this time it was finally valid & I was able to logon to my Amazon account. I found out that I had a balance of -$5.00. So I emailed the buyer & asked him if he would return the speakers or re-charge his account minus the damage of the speaker foot because I never was compensated for the speakers. I asked him how much it cost him to repair the speaker foot & he never gave me an answer. He responded that his intent was never to return the speakers & never said anything about re-charging his account. I would imagine that the cost to repair the foot on the speaker would be less than $100 at most or he may have been able to screw it back on to fix it for nothing. I emailed him again & offered him a discount of $50-$75. This time I received no response at all regarding this matter. So at this point I'm extremely concerned that the buyer will not pay the $1454.98 owed to me or return the rightful merchandise. Also, I would like to add that there was 2 items that were sold & only one item for $700 allegedly had little to no damage at all but Amazon refunded him the total amount of $1454.98. So he gets to keep the merchandise & the money. So this purchase or scam was completely free for the buyer albeit very expensive transaction for me the seller. He says that he has no intent to return the speakers, & I don’t believe he has any intent to allow his account to be recharged as he has not responded to any of my emails. The fair resolution I am looking for would be for him to compensate me for the merchandise that is in his possession & I would refund the amount of the damage to the foot of the speaker. I know I’m repeating myself, but he has 2 fully functional speakers that were completely free because the amount of 1454.98 was refunded to him. I have spoken with 2 supervisors from Amazon seller support & submitted numerous emails. One supervisor, Carl P., advised me to submit a “Report of a violation of our rules”. Also, Gloria says she will look into this matter further as well & she has filed a “buyer report abuse form” in the hope of compelling the buyer to respond to my e-mail communications. At this point the emails haven’t worked. I’m hoping this one will. I appreciate your time & consideration.
