#1 Consumer Suggestion

You paid for a service

AUTHOR: Agent - (U.S.A.)

When you hire a bondsman to bail you out of jail they do so for a fee; in this case $5,000. This is NON-REFUNDABLE! It is a fee for services rendered.

If you had posted the money with the court you would have been refunded the money less any court costs, fees or fines.

Once you contract through a bondsman for your pre-trial release the money you pay them they keep for performing the service.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Get your money back

AUTHOR: Brent - (U.S.A.)

I hear about this kind of problem a lot in other states. Try this method first.

1. Read your contract with the company very good.
Did you appear in court on said court date and time? If YES go to next question. If you answered NO on this question, refer to your contract/ Did they charge you any expenses for returning you to court?

2.What county did you go to jail in? Did you pay your court cost and fines? What court did the case resolve in? Contact the Clerk of Court andsee if they reported they Bond Security to the court. They may have been in violation with the court for not reporting it, remember you will have to show a receipt, canceled check or some type of proof that you gave them the money.

3. Ask the Clerk of Court if they are a Insurance or Property Backed Company? If they are a insurance backed company..get the name, address and phone of the insurance company with a power # number for your case. Contact the insurance company and see if they reported the Bond Security to them. This will usaully open some eyes!
