I BOUGHT A INSURANCE POLICY ONLINE FROM PROGRESSIVE FOR MOBILE HOME INSURANCE. Well for starters Progressive doesnt have mobile home insurance then was forwarded to assurant then to American Bankers Insurance Company. Had a House fire on April 12, 2012 and lost everything I owned plus the home was a total loss. Reported my claim promptly and was told a adjuster would be sent out right away. Weeks later no adjuster has come then he finally gets to the home well May 23, 2012 roles around and i receive a letter stating they was waiting on the adjusters report and the matter would be settled within 30 days.

Keep in mind i was never ask if they could help in anyway by sending living costs money or any money what so ever until i had ask what was i supposed to do considering i had lost everything and didnt have a home and didnt even have clothes to put on my back. Finally May 07,2012 over a month after the fire Frank Will Sallis sent me  $2000.00  to help with additional living costs. I had called Frank Will Sallis and left message after message and days and weeks would go by with no responce so when it says on the answering machine will return your call with in 24 hours they should put maybe a week if you are lucky.

After being lied to repeatedly by Frank Will Sallis stating they was waiting on the adjusters report i called the adjuster and he stated they had had the report for weeks so i was being flat out lied to. Well i then called Frank Will Sallis back really upset for being lied to and when i ask why i was being lied to that i had talked to the adjuster and they had long since had the report i was they sent to talk to the manager Julie Westridge which stated the claim would be settled shortly and stated she needed electric bills and bill of sale sent to her which was again along with all the other papers sent to her the same day.

Well weeks go by again and i receive a call that my claim was being sent to special investagations dept to Jeff Davies. Well this man might make a good police officer he come across with everything he said as accusing me of being a criminal from everything to did i have a ebay account to what i had ever posted on craigslist. He tried to confuse everything i said and get it turned around like i was a liar. By this point these people had given me a nervous breakdown. I had lost my home all of my belongings and after going threw the runaround and been lied to time and time again i had a want to be police man trying to get me to admit to stuff i didnt even do and trying to turn every word i said into something else.

Well thats when i had my wife call Jeff Davies and again keep in mind these people where sent everything they had ask for and 9 times out of 10 it was sent the same day. So they have title, bill of sale, electric bills, fire report, content list, receits for living costs, lot owners name and information, and many many more things. Got a letter as of July 31, 2012 stating they needed the title, and lot owners information which was sent to them promptly. Well as of labor day i get a phone call and this was on the holiday without any prior notice showed up at the burned home and called me and informed me that he was a fire investigator hired by American Bankers Insurance Company and i must comply that day within the hour to let him inspect the property and my wife and myself had to sit down with him the same day and be interviewed yet again.

So gladly we complied and my wife stayed up all night printing off hundreds and hundreds of receits for almost every single item that was on the loss report, prior insurance, wedding license, electric bills, basic proof of every single thing we had done our whole life even ask my wife about her xhusband which she hasnt been married to in 14 years. Total invasion of privacy. Asking questions that was non of their buisness and had nothing at all to do with my insurance claim. We always pay with everything with cash and was told that was a red flag. So required us to account for every dime that we had ever had trying to prove we were liars i guess. But after answering every question and giving hundreds of receits and proof of everything i was told i would here from Julie Wellridge within the week and my claim would be paid.

Well i didnt hear from anyone until September 21, 2012 asking for insurance papers and information that had already been given to them but yet again i sent the requested papers to Julie Wellridge and was told that was all that was needed to settle my claim that had already been turned in on labor day. So this is September 25, 2012 and i have yet to here back from Julie Wellridge. I am giving them 2 weeks to settle my claim and then im going to the bbb and im hiring a lawyer. Every step of the way this company has done everything possibly known to man to get out of paying this claim. Who requires a person to send in a receit for every item they have on the lost property list. Do they not think people get gifts? Never the less they have every receit and drug me and my wife threw the mud and put us threw hell to get out of paying our claim.

I guess it wasnt enough losing everything i owned they needed to give me a nervous breakdown and make my life as hard as possible hoping i didnt do what they ask so they could deny my claim. I will update this post as this progresses but the fire was April 12, 2012 and it is now September 25, 2012 SIX MONTHS and have only received $2000.00 and the run around. DO NOT GET YOUR INSURANCE THREW ASSURANT AKA AMERICAN BANKERS INSURANCE COMPANY. As you can tell all they are worried about is keeping from settling peoples claims to pad their own pockets and could care less if my wife, 3 kids and I lived under a bridge and starved to death. But as stated i will update this as it comes along.

Yes, the new claim protocol is known inside the insurance industry as Delay-Deny-Defend while dragging your claim our for 10-12 months. This is just good business practice for them to keep your money as long as possible.

At this late date after 6 months, they should have all their arson investigation done after drilling you to death. They look for flaws and mis statements you may make between you and your wife to deny your entire claim. What you say will be used against you. Dont talk and do collateral damages to your own claim as most insured's do by singing like a canary.

I would suggest hiring a Public Adjuster who will work for 10% of the recovery, sure beats 40% to an attorney who is not an adjuster. Make sure its a PA that has 10-15 years working inside an insurance carrier and not a want-a-be contractor playing as a PA. There are hundreds of nuances to every claim and a PA can walk thru them and protect your rights and get you far more money than you can on your own, which will offset the PA fee. 

The insurer will keep you at a great disadvantage while always making it look like you are not cooperating with them. You should be getting paid ALE at $2000 per month until they either deny your claim or confirm coverage. You should demand in writing that they deny the claim or accept it today. Either put up or shut up mind set to force them to accept the claim. If the Fire marshal had a case on you, you would be charged at time of the fire. Once the fire dept left town the fire scene is no longer secure and if they have any evidence to deny coverage, they could and should  have done so by now. Its all a stall tactic to keep investigating the loss which can go on into never never land, another fraudulent tactic long used by them. Its no wonder for decades they have been unable to find new recruit adjusters to work for them. On the West Coast of California  they were the employer of last resort for adjusters to work for and still are. 

a GOOD public adjuster will be able to move your claim forward and stop the delay tactics as well as file proof of your loss. The carrier is well known for offering 40% of the loss value. Take action and find a claim advocate and save yourself a lot more grief still ahead for you. Eventually they will beat you down until you will take about anything to settle the loss and still have a shirt on your back.

They have been supplied with everything other than our dna! This company is doing nothing more than trying to find a loophole to get out of paying our claim or for us to get angry enough not to fooperate so they can deny the claim and they keep saying they have the right to investigate any claim and are not held to a timeframe! I know have the lot owner wanting to sue me because the trailer and lot hasnt been cleaned up but the insurance company sent me a letter saying i couldnt remove anything

so really how many problems can one crooked company set out to cause and the only answers i get is we have the right to investigate the claim and we dont have a timeframe and we are alowed to keep coming back week after week and asking for things that have already been sent to them i will post a list tomorrow of everything that has been sent to them and please people let me know what u think about how much information a insurane company can ask for because at this point its really become a invasion of privacy and tactics to get out of paying!

The Insurance company claims they cannot contact you or it is your fault for the delays in handling your claim. Its pure POLITICKING by the claims person covering their paper trail. Don't listen to their crap!
