On July 18, 2011 a meat vendor was selling meat in our neighborhood from American Choice Beef and Seafood. He came to our door and showed us the meat. The meat was vacumm sealed and the pieces looked like they would taste great when prepared. The sales person claimed this was Angus Beef and many restaurants around the area bought from them.

He stated the company has been in business 12 years and that in the past they sold only to restaurants and other establishments but wanted to expand the business and start selling to residential customers. The meat cost 280.00 for two cases and initially looked like good meat. On July, 19th we barbequed a bacon wrap filet and there was a lot of grizzled in the meat. All three pieces were disgusting.
 
The following day we made sirloin hamburges. The meat was so finely grounded it had no consistency and once again tasted awful. Our salesman had said that if for any reason we did not like the meat to put it in baggies and keep, call him and let him know and he would pick up the baggies and get us an exchange or a full refund, which he put on the receipt.

I followed his instructions and on 6/24 he came by the house, picked up the meat and said we would be getting a full refund of our 280.00. Since then I have not heard from him again. I have made numerous calls to him with no response.

I have called the company phone number and spoken with John but have had no response. He asaid he would have Josh call me, but there has been no phone call.It turns out the company has no business license in Anaheim, the address for the business is an apartment complex, and the company has only been around since 2008. This company is a scam and I want my money back.

Dear John from Memphis (U.S.A.)

I am sorry if you have had a problem with a meat company in the past. However I must inform you that it was not from 'American Choice Beef & Seafood'. In fact we do not do any business anywhere near your part of the country.

I have had one complaint, which was posted before she even contacted the company, and was handled promptly. The poster even put this in her own post, and gave a positive repost about my company.

You have posted slander against my company and you have not tried my product or have had any dealings with us, please stop.

I do sell USDA Choice beef, although you said i do not. The product I sell is labeled very clearly and is easy to read, although you try to make it sound otherwise.

I do not give out clientele information or claim to sell any restaurants, but the fact is I get the product from three of the countrys top meat packers which most all the restaurant and steakhouses get their product from.

Why big boxes of meat? Same reason people shop at Cosco. And just for your information Sir, I have an exceedingly high repeat clientele, 84% repeat business.

So please John from Memphis (U.S.A.), if you did have a bad experience, please make a new thread about them, and please stop taking out your frustration on my company.

It's pretty obvious. Save your breath and don't insult out intelligence. Go to their website and see the great guarantee. They'll REPLACE the product you don't like but NO REFUNDS.

Ask yourself why they sell big boxes of meat only. It's simply because they know they have to get your money the first time because you won't be reordering after you taste it.

Excellent product

I forgot all about this report until I received an email that there has been an update or rebuttal. I meant to post a while back but life happened. I would like to advocate for the company. First off this ripoff report should not have even be posted, the original complainer did not even give the company a chance she posted the ripoff the same day she first contacted the company (I emailed the company on 7/9 ), lady are you for real, thats not even fair!Second, to the two previous posts (#3 and #4) that has nothing to do with this and has had no dealings with the company in question, everything was resolved as stated by the original complainer in post #2.Third, after reading post #4, I went and looked at the boxes of steak in my freezer and on them it does have the official USDA stamp and is labeled as USDA CHOICE Angus Beef. I enjoy it greatly. .

Here is my story:

I have been buying my meat from American Choice BEEF and Seafood for a few years now. I Love their Product, its the best Ive ever had, and I have bought from three other companies before I met Josh. I too have been scammed by Josh, thats what led me here. I bought from Josh 7 times and introduced him to my neighbor which still buys from the company too. The last time I attempted to buy from Josh he gave me a story about a 4th July special promotion and said I needed to pay cash and it would be delivered the next week, I could not turn down the offer so I coughed up the cash. He also told my neighbor the same thing but josh would not take his credit card and Josh said he could write a check out to him, but my neighbor felt weird about it because he always paid by credit card he told me. (Lucky him) I called josh on July 2nd (he was supposed to deliver my meat on the 1st) and Josh told me the warehouse burnt down and my delivery would be delayed. I called the next week and his phone was disconnected, so I called another number he gave me before (a different number almost every time he called) that is his brothers number I guess he was staying at and I got to talk with Josh and he told me he lost his phone and lost my number and he would deliver the meat the next day. I never heard from him again and his brother would not give me any information on him, and stopped answering my calls. I finally called the company and they were very helpful, however I did not get my money back, they did tell me that they recently received other similar complaints that josh had pulled on his customers, and that I should never give someone cash without getting product in return at the time of the transaction and that they would never ask us to. Even though I got scammed by josh I still save a lot of money and enjoy excellent meat from their company and I asked them if they would assign a new person to me. They sent out Bill and he has been awesome and is a great guy. I sent bill to my lucky neighbor and we have been buying off him since.

After searching San Bernardino court website I have found out that josh is on FELONY PAROLE (Case # FS6904875) for Grand Theft in 2009, go figure. I would advise anyone that has had a problem with josh to contact his parole officer. Here is the information I received from josh and from the web:

A Sad Excuse

OK, so Josh is a scammer, as are most people selling meat from a truck. He was still selling YOUR product which the buyer found to be crap. Josh wasn't the real issue, the quality of the meat was.

Folks, remember, only a sucker buys meat by the piece. Be an educated meat buyer and buy BY THE POUND. Always ask for proof of what the USDA GRADE is. Your local butcher will never be embarassed to tell you the USDA grades of the meat he sells. Always strive for the prime or choice grades to assure your satisfaction and enjoyment. If the package of frozen steaks off the truck is not labelled clearly then you could end up with a MUCH LOWER grade, possibly the same as used in dog food. Don't fall for the old 'USDA Inspected' pitch. The USDA inspects all 9 grades of meat. That's why dog food companies use it on their packaging. Think about it.

As for restaurants ordering this same frozen meat for their customers.... Do you honestly believe that???? You can bet money they'll never publicly say which ones do.

I own a company in Weston Wisconsin called America's Choice Meats & Seafood. I was very disturbed when I Googled my business name and seen this. We have been in business since July of 2011. We get about 95% repeat business so people are very happy with our products. We have all the proper licenses and permits in WI and working to expand to Minnesota and Michigan as of 2012. We have grown from 1 delivery truck to 4 in a little over a year. We take pride in our customer service department and will do what it takes to make our customers happy, all it takes is a phone call or an email which is on our receipts and brochures that everyone gets at the time of their purchase. Josh R. Reiff is an independent contractor; he works for his self and only bought product from the Company for resale to the public. However, we terminated his contract to do business with us at the beginning of the year due to misrepresenting his self and the Company and other fraudulent acts. We have not had any further contact with him

This is being posted to publicly state that JOSH RICHARD REIFF does not work for this Company nor have we had any contact with him since the beginning of the year!

We would like to warn you that Josh Reiff is a scam artist; he will lie and deceive to get what he needs quote from Josh Reiff I will say and do whatever I have to do to take care of my family, including lie and steal . These were Josh Reiffs last words as we ended our business relations due to Josh Reiff  taking a large sum of money from a customer without any intention of giving the customer any product and blowing off the customer. The Company found out a few weeks later when the customer called the Company and informed us that Josh Reiff said he was the manager of the Company and Josh owed them product.

Josh Reiff still owes use a few thousand dollars. We not care about the money and was happy the problems were gone but now as I will explain why, we would like to see him thrown in jail/prison and serve some time.

We have just recently received a few calls concerning Josh Reiff. Apparently, he is still in the business and going back to his customers and telling them he is giving a 4th of July promotion but you have to pay cash in advance and the product will be delivered after the 4th. Well it appears many people took him up for his promotion because he was offering product extremely underpriced. He pocketed the cash and changed his number. Well I think he needs to be off the street for this move.

I would love to give you all his personal information so you can ether collect your money and or arrest him, unforchantly most if not all the information we have on him is out of date and we might not be allowed legally to give it out so we wont. However, you can! And please do! Please give any information that would help track down, find, and prosecute him!!!

American Choice Beef Resolves the Problem

I would like to happily announce that once I stopped dealing with Josh their "independent contractor" and started dealing directly with the company this issue has been resolved. I emailed the company on 7/9 and got my refund on 7/16. I no longer feel that this was a problem with American Choice Beef and John Smith III but with Josh who said what he needed to make a sale. Today I got my money back. :)

I have learned a lot from this situation. First, do not buy anything from any one who does not provide you with a receipt that details the terms of the sale. Do not buy anything from verdors that come door to door. Finally, if a company or their representative does you wrong go on Ripoff Report and report them because this is what motivated them to give me my refund. Let them know you put them on Ripoff Report. It works.

In conclusion, everything I wrote in my initial complaint happened as written, but I dont think they are a scamm company because they followed through with resolving the problem.
