I received a letter offering me a loan from American Credit (ACS) for up to $5000.00. The letter specifically had my name on it and it also said that this loan was being offered in time for the holidays which is why I thought is was legitimate. I sent off the information and called to inquire. I did get someone about the second time that I called. However, from then on, I had to leave messages and this man by the name of Steve calls me back.

I have actually spoken with Steve several times. He even explained the terms and conditions of this loan to me. I thought that everything was okay. Well, I have figured out the way "Steve" gets money from people. Steve either get funds of $70 or $55. He sent an additional letter from Universal Financial. The letter from Universal Financial asks for an additional $55 to process the loan. There is also another amount for processing student loans. The letter guarantees a loan and so did the letter from ACS.

Steve is able to keep the $70 because the first loan application gives 5 days to decline the application by mail or in person. I am just figuring out that this is a ripp off and have decided to send the letter requesting my money back. However, I am pretty sure that I will be out of $70.

My sister mentioned to me that this might be a gimmick but I didn't listen to her because I am broke and really need this money for the holidays. At this point, I decided to look this company up on the internet, ACS. There are American Credit companies listed in the Texas area, however, there is no ACS with the same address as on the letter that I received. There are also actual Universal Financial companies based out of Kentucky which is where the Universal Financial is based from that was on my second letter.

It has been a week and I am just now getting the second letter which has allowed Steve to be able to keep my $70, according to this fictious contract. I have left Steve a message but I am sure that he will not contact me again. I am sure he is aware by the tone of my voice that I am suspectious.

Also, for anyone else that may be a potential victim of this scam, look up the company first. Also, pay close attention to the letter that you receive and think about letters that you have received in the past from legitimate loan companies. This letter that I have received has no color to it, and it so informal until I should have known from the beginning that it was not real. It looks like it was just typed from a home computer, now that I think about it. Again, I am broke and really needed the loan and failed to notice these intricate details in the beginning.

I will see what I can do about this. My cousin is a lawyer and I will be contacting him for advice on this matter. What scares me is that this person has all of my personal information although now I see that this person has miy information along with many other people's.

I do agree that something needs to be about these types of companies. I also think that something should be done about all of these companies that guarantee you to be able to work from home, however, they charge money to start to make money. I haven't found a legitimate company yet that enables you to be able to work from home and make an income.
