Contacted American Equity Mortage about a consolidation loan. Told them exact figures of the amount we were looking for. Talked with Charles each time. The day that we finished our paperwork they wanted $485 on a credit card for an appraisal. The next day the charge was taken out of our credit card. It took 3 weeks and many excuses why they had not done it. I accused them of this being fraud and the next day they came. Charles told us we would have no problem with the amount that we wanted. Even tried to get us to ADD things to it to make it more than we needed. One week later we were denied. Charles said our house would easliy appraise for $166,000. Their guy appraised our home far under what it is worth but they still got the $485. And Charles was no longer there! Was this a con??? Sure feels like it! Stay away from this one!!!
