American Express Sweepstakes Travel and Leisure Golf Player Club Junk mail ripoff Internet
*Author of original report: Entering Amex sweepstake does cost money
Beware American Express customers! My recent credit card statement showed an $89 charge I could not identify. It read "AEPC Member Services" and "T+K Golf Player Clb."
The Amex sweepstakes junk mail I usually discard without opening includes an "automatic charge" of $89 for a subscription to Travel and Leisure Magazine if you don't open that mailing and return the sweepstakes entry form indicating that you don't want to subscribe.
This is a sneaky trick to fleece Amex customers who don't carefully read their credit card statements.
I contacted AEPC Member Services and was told that the $89 charge would be canceled.

Clarification: It's entering the Amex sweepstake that will bite you -- if you don't notice that you have to indicate that you don't want their magazines.
