I noticed a charge for $79 dollars on my American Express credit card for "AEPC Member Services, T and L Golf TLGC Membership". When I called AmEx Customer Service, I was told that there was an automatic charge placed on my card for a Sweepstakes.

Have you ever replied or accepted the junk that came with their billing? The junk would be attached to the envelop that you use to send back to pay the bill. Usually, it would be like "placing this sticker for free entry" and such. I have seem it many times when I get a bill from them. That could be what you mistakenly signed up for. Yes, it is misleading and it is unfair. I don't like the way they do business this way either.
