Don't sign up for anything which is offer by Mail. They are trying to rip you off.

Long story short, I would like to inform you that about my accident which was happen with Amex card service. First of all, I thought it is great to have one additionally green card from Amex, so when I receipt the offer letter from Amex, so I reviewed the offer letter, and it said annual fees is $95. And I tried to look at website for activation, it said "Pay no annual fee for one year - a savings of $95".

So I thought, it is great to get activate online, instead of activating with mail. Because you will save about $95 for a year. right. so I activated the card by online, because I thought there is no charge for annual fee at first.

After 10 days of having green card, i was charged with $95 annual fees. So when I dispute that they said the offer letter indicated that the annual fee is $95. But when i talked about website activation, they said that doesn't apply for me, then they will not refund me back. So guys, please be careful and don't activate/sign up anything whatever you got offers from Amex via Mail.

If you serious need Amex card, you can simply go online and apply for it instead of waiting the offers from them. Getting the offers letter doesn't meant great offer for you, they want to rip you off, that's why they are sending the offers to you with 2 cents postage bar code to rip $95 for green card, $125 for gold card.

I think you forgot to put in the Promo code...

AUTHOR: ChickenVRage - (United States of America)

Hi, i'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the American Express. But after reading your story you didn't mention anything about putting in the online promotional code.
I'll admit it could be a little confusing trying to find the promo code, but it's definitely there and in a visible location. Or maybe you did put in the promo code but it still didn't work, which is unlikely, but not impossible.

Regardless, I'm glad that you were taken care of. Sorry you had to call in so much. If I would've known about it sooner I would have personally made sure your membership fee was waived.

Thanks for joining American Express, I hope we can continue to have your business.

Guys, After 3 times phone called to Customer services, that doesn't help at all. So I send the message to customer services for getting credit back of Membership fees.

First of all, I got the respond about not getting back, later I respond back to them, I demand that I would like to cancel the card rather than keeping card which is not really great. After that, I got respond about getting card adjustment membership fee as follow:

I'm sorry for the confusion regarding Annual Membership Fee and reward points on your account. Please don't be dissatisfied. I will take care of both the inquiries right away for you!

A) You are absolutely correct. Our website clearly states "No fee for the first year". You should not have been charged Annual Membership Fee for the Green Card.

Therefore, I have issued $95.00 credit on your account. This will reflect on your next statement.

I am sorry that the previous representative missed out to check this information for you.

B) Regarding your rewards inquiry, I see that 357 points have been issued for May statement. These points will be transferred within 7-10 days to your available point balance after the next statement generates on June 28, 2011.

As a procedure, I would like to inform you that reward points are issued automatically after each statement generation date. However, they reflect under pending status.

These pending points are then transferred to the reward account within 7-10 days after the next statement is generated and becomes available for redemption. For example, points issued for the January 2011 statement will be transferred within 7-10 days after the February 2011 statement is generated.

C) I see that you have already made payment for your current statement balance. If you wish to redeem points, I can make special arrangements and expedite the transfer of pending points.

Please reply to this email with your confirmation and I will make the necessary arrangements for you.

Thike, it takes a long time to deliver Excellent customer service in this competitive marketplace and win customer loyalty. We would like to gain your trust and not like to loose a valued customer like you.

Hope my actions is to your satisfaction and retains your Cardmembership.

Take Care and have an Excellent Day!

In part you said " If you serious need Amex card,  "

If you NEED any card you have bigger issues and should not use any card .

Cancel the card and get a refund. The status symbol you think the green card is, is long gone
