My wife and i recentlly visited our son in louisville,kentucky.we wanted to help him get a new start by buying him some new furniture(pretty simple,huh?) we went to american freight @ 1920 watterson trail,and oh boy did they want to help us....right!when we finally got a sales person (his name was elvis)after many different choices of we really love this one...oh no im sorry we dont carry this one any more and we wont sell the floor models, we finally found a set that we thought would do our son right,sitting there talking with elvis ,i noticed a sign on one of the pillars talking about a ultra shield protection,and so i asked elvis what this meant,and he stated that this protection comes with all our furniture,it helps protect against rips burns Etc. well we made our final decission and proceded to the checkout as it was, and right before we finished we were informed that they do not deliver themselves, but go through a contracted private moving company, and we would have to pay them 65.00 when they showed up with our furniture,it really upset us that this policy wasn't posted..but we did relent.
on the day of deliveryand after the furniture was brought inside(and the movers left) we inspected the furniture and tightened the legs and found that there was a large rip in the back of the love seat. we called american freight and told them that the movers had damaged the product, they said we must call the movers(furniture delivery-pendleton expediting)my wife called them and said she had watched one of the men trip coming in the door after being warned by the first mover of a nail in the door and to be careful.
he tripped and then made a statement that "we weeble and wabble but we dont fall down" the moving company stated that"our men do not trip,that would put us out of business".we finally made it to the owner and he stated that he would come out and re-upholster the love seat,when they arrived they looked at it and said" no thats a manufacter's defect and we are not going to fix it.Sooooo i called american freight back and told them what their contracted moving company said ,and wesley(the manager) listened to me and then said oh no thats not a manufacters defect thats between you and the movers we cant help you.
after seeing the reports here and then dealing with them, it seems to me they work hand in hand with their contracters, suck all your money up and then surprise no-one can help you what-so-ever. we have learned a very expensive lesson but something must be done,so this garbage stops.And one more thing,remember the ultra shield protection" that comes with all our furniture" they charged us 78.00 for it and then found out we were given a floor model, because"we dont carry that set any more,and we cannot order it. When does it stop?
