Don't ever buy ANYTHING from American Freight.

My fiance and I bought a couch and love seat in early April. Upon paying for our merchandise, we were asked to give at least an approximate date for delivery/pick-up to ensure they had our furniture in stock when we were ready for it. HA!

We told them we wanted it delivered on May 6th, a few days before we were getting married so that our apartment would be furnished when we returned from our honeymoon. I called them on the 5th to make sure we were still on for delivery on the 6th. They said "yes."

My fiance took a half day at work so that he would be at the apartment when they delivered our furniture (we did not actually live there yet). I called several times that day to see if anyone could give me any idea what time it would be delivered. I was told several times that the delivery guys would call me when in the area. Feeling like I was not being told the truth, my husband called to inquire. He was told that our furniture was not actually in stock and could not be delivered today. Why they couldn't tell ME this is beyond me.

We set a new delivery date for the day after we returned from our honeymoon. Again, we called the store to make sure we would be getting our delivery. No such luck. Still out of stock but expected to be in "any day now."

I called back everyday for the next week while my husband was at work and was given a different answer/excuse for why they STILL didn't have the furniture we paid for a month ago. I asked to speak to Brent, the manager, every time I called and he was always conviently with a customer, not in the store, etc. I also left my number to have Brent call me, several times, and never received a call.

My husband was finally able to get in touch with Brent and we were told we could just come in and pick out a different couch/loveseat and they would deliver it that day. We went in, found another set we liked, but guess what...they didn't have that one in stock either. Brent encouraged us to keep looking and find something else that they actually had, but I refused to settle on something just because it was available. We were assured this set would be in by June 9th. Also asked for free delivery and were told not possible because another company does the deliveries.

While in the store, it became very apparent why it is so poorly run. Brent had some matter to deal with and let some other guy take care of us. While waiting for our new receipt, several calls came in for Brent (most likely other customers wanting answers about where their stuff is). One customer was put on hold and the phone was placed face-down on the desk and completely ignored. One guy asked another if he would take the call and he replied that he was tired of fixing all of Brent's mistakes. Now thats some quality customer service.

On Monday, May 9th, I called as soon as the store opened to make sure our merchandise was in stock. I was told it would not be in until Wednesday. I then had to track Brent down in the KY store so he could figure out what in the world was going on in the Fairfield store. I later received a call (for the first time ever) from an employee saying that our furniture would be put on the delivery truck shortly. This was at 3pm. My husband called back around 6 pm to see where it was and we were again told the delivery guys would call us when they were in the area. Our furniture FINALLY arrived at 10 pm.

To top it all off, we were never told by American Freight that the delivery fee must be paid in cash. The delivery guys told us this as we got out our check book. Luckily, we were able to scrounge together the cash.

I honestly cannot believe that a company as poorly run as American Freight is still in business and we will NEVER take our business there again. This is my advice to anyone and everyone.
