I leased a 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe from d**k Hannnah Honda in Vancouver, Washington on October 25th, 2000. I took delivery of this car on November 1st, 2000.

This car has been a problem from the second day I drove it. At first it has liquid droplets on the driver side. From that point the cars A/C drain Hose was plugged. I took the car to two different dealers who could or would not fix the problem.

I had to take my car to an independent technician who unplugged the drain hose. When they did this they found undercoating on several parts of the exhaust system. The dealer tried to remove the undercoating but could not get all of it. It took me four months to get the dealer to correct the undercoating problem. I thought that this would solve my cars problems. For the first four months I had to drive the car with the windows down because of the undercoating. My car was okay for about the next ten days. From about the March 18th, 2001 to the present time I have to drive with the windows down because of raw fuel and exhaust fumes that come inside the passenger compartment.

I have had at least two people confirm that they smelled fuel inside the passenger compartment. One of the people worked for a Honda dealership as a service technician for nine years. The other person is a technician that works for an independant repair shop.

I have even had my car towed four times because of the fumes. The fumes have been so bad that not only did it effect my breathing and level of awareness it got in my eyes and made them burn bad enough that I could not see to drive down the road.

I have been through arbitration and even though the car effected me adversley the arbitrators sided with Honda. They said that even though the car made me sick they could not ask Honda to buy back the car.

Ted Meresh from American Honda rode with a Thomason Honda service writer and me. My car did okay until it would go up hill. The fumes would get worse on the freeway when going up and down inclines. Each time I would cough I would notice that I was going up an incline.

My problem is that Honda will not stand behind thier product. I even ask Ted if they could take my car for a couple of hours and do some diagnostic teating. His answer was no. I have put a lot of money into this car myself. For the first 6000 miles I could not get the car to go over 60 miles an hour. The car had a severe lack of power under acceleration as diagnosed by two independent technicians. The second tehnician found the fuel trim level to be at 6 and that it should be at three or less. He adjusted the valves and that corrected the power problem. The valve adjustment cost me 253.00 dollars.

My average gas mileage is 22.50 miles per gallon. This is the mileage when I have driven 50 percent Highway and 50 City. The manufacturers estimated miles per gallon is 23 city and 30 highway.

I have spoken to customer service representatives at Honda several times. I don't think that Honda cares at all about thier customers. This is my seventh Honda and customer loyalty at American Honda stands for nothing.

I can live with the drivers side door sticking, the alarm going off when starting the car, or the alarm going off when disalarming my car.

It is a danger to have this car on the road. I would like to know how many other people have conplained about this kind of problem with thier honda.
