Since I started at AIU-Online in mid 2005 I have had nothing but trouble, I can't even begin to count the number of counselors I have had, because as soon as a problem arrived, I was transfered to another advisor.

My latest incident has been an Academic appeal, where I composed a 40 page appeal and submitted it return-reciept, certified mail, because my problems had to deal with technical difficulties where I firmly belive it was not on my end. after two months of waiting on their decision of whether or not they would reinstate me, I found out that they had never recieved my appeal and they did not know who the person who signed for it was. Although I was upset, I resubbitted another appeal the same way, and they agreed to reinstate me.

Now my problem is that I have taken now 16 classes, 8 of which they said I had failed and had to retake, and after retaking them I have only completed and passed 12 classes total. I am currently compiling an appeal to a different appeals board to see if I can get a credit on the classes that I had to retake unneccessarily because in my first appeal I had come to the conclusion, by averaging the class grades together, that by replacing the zero or failing grade with the average grade that I would have passed every class with at least a satisfactory grade or better.

The reason that I had agreed to retake these classes is because one of my advisors had assured me that there would be no additional costs, and recanted that statement after a few classes based on the semester and how they charge. I understand the costs, but after the additional semester of costs, they continued to fail me for things beyond my control, such as technical difficulties, of which I have supporting evidence.

Unfortunately, I have yet to see someone with a legitimate cause to sue the school, but perhaps that is due to non-detailed complaints.

If anyone has any advise as to what to do at this point I would greatly appreciate it.

I beg your pardon.

I beg your pardon, but I worked extremely hard. I tried all of those solutions. I was constantly trying to resolve the problem but doing just that and I was using many business and public computers such as the library as well as many other places. I can understand not letting someone take classes for free but this problem is larger than you realize with many other issues related, however, a lawsuit is being pursued so I am not a liberty to discuss in detail at this time.

Failing Courses

AUTHOR: Tawny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 11, 2007

Not to be harsh, but I was not aware there was a college in the world that allowed you to fail and retake a class for free. As for the advisor who stated this, The only person who should be informing anyone on the cost of courses is financial aid.

It is not a schools fault if you fail a class, and technical issues is probably the largest excuse used at any school that provides online courses. There is always another computer at a library or elsewhere that can be used. It appears you want the university to give you money for failing to make the effort required to graduate school - that is just silly.

I would suggest you work as hard on school next time as you did on a rebuttal for failing classes.
