Do we really live in a free society?

Hello America, my name is Andinet . i am an immigrant . I came to America looking for a better life and freedom. Fortunately I have been enjoing the freedom that you provied me however; since december 30 2004 i started to suspect the system as the above company took my money in formal way. I never see neither think about a crime like this even in Africa. They wrote me a congratulation letter saying that my poem is selected for publication AND THEN I SENT THEM 143 DOLLAR TO ORDER TWO COPIES OF THE BOOK and to put my poem in a special hand craft plaque. As they said I would have the book in December 2004 . yet they didn't even sent me an email untill now on March 23 2005. Look America, I am afraid we are not that secured and free as our Persident speeks .

Every Poem is a Winner! They make their money by publishing books filled with winning poems

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 27, 2005

I've received letters from this company too. They make their money by publishing books filled with winning poems. The catch is that every poem is a Winner.

You can write the most bloody awful poem in the world and they'll say it's a winner. They'll send you a congratulatory letter, then ask that you submit money to have your winning poem published in a coffee table book. The cost is high. They will send you a book with your poem inserted, so they do fulfill their part of the bargain.

However, this is just a book filled with other "winning poems" submitted by normal every day people. They prey on your conceit - formulated by telling you that your poem is a Winner. They know that you'll want to see it published. That you'll want to show all your friends and relatives that your poem was a Winner. But for a hundred plus dollars? It's a RIP-OFF!

This Rip-off takes many forms; the other one in this area is for Photos. They ask you to submit a photo. It's scanned then put in their letter to you. When you open the letter you'll see your photo tagged with Winning Photo! They'll congratulate you on your photography skills and subject matter. Then ask you to submit money to have your photo published in a Coffee Table book. The book itself contains photos submitted by normal everyday people like you and me. Some are bloody awful. Again, they are preying on your conceit.
