American Publishers Service canceled subscription and still being billed and now sent to collection agency and lawyer Phoenix, Arizona

I was told if I cancel within a time period my subscription would be canceled. I called and canceled but continued to be billed. I called and was told they would let me listen where I agreed then they said there computers were down and then they could not find my recorded message to them of where I told them no I donot want it and cancel if I have a subscription. Yet they continue to bill me and they told me I owe them 9hundred and forty four dollars to end the subscription I told them I owe them nothing I have no subscription and now they have sent my name to a collection agency and to a attorney's office. I have called both the agency and attorney with no response that I still owe. I would like this investigated since I have seen several complaints related to this. I am still refusing to pay and this has also been place on my credit report.
