American Service Insurance slow processing rip-off Rosemont Illinois

My son was hit returning from college for his National Guard Army Drill Weekend. Driver of other car was 16, 3rd accident in one year, he admitted this to my son while waiting for the police, and was insured by American Service. This was a Friday night. No 24-7 customer service line,we had to wait until Monday to get through.

Our son had to take train back to college 7 hour ride. He now had an undrivable car,we suspected was totaled. The adjustor would not return our repeated calls. After 3 months of this and over 3,000.00 in storage bills we reported American Service to the Insurance Industry Regualtor in Springfield, and CC'd this to the Co.

Finally and magically they offered 1.100 less than the car was worth. We were so frustrated my son took it. The towing they would not pay, the storage they would not pay 3,300.00 The car was worth 4,00.00 blue book and we had put over 2,00.00 of work into it last summer while my son was deployed to Europe for Enduring Freedom.

With the check we received almost 4 full months after the accident, 2,925.00, was a letter saying my son, they felt,was inattentive! The car was worth 4,000.00 but they deducted over a thousand because they felt he was partially to blame! The child who hit him was ticketed and pulled out of a gas station across two lanes and knocked him off course, deploying both airbags and totaling the car!

The lesson we learned here, after being hit, losing several thousand dollars, is, next time it is off to the hospital and perhaps they will react quicker. The only question they seemed interested in having answered the Monday after the accident was "has anyone been injured in the accident ?"

I now know why we have high insurance costs, sleazy companies like this make people so angry, no wonder people file frivolous lawsuits! To make up for what they have lost, through no fault of their own!

Thank God my son and his friend are ok, but pray you don't get hit by anyone insured by American Service. If you do, plan on an unfair settlement when they feel you are at the end of your rope.

My son was in an awful accident 4 years ago and our company, Country Companies was wonderful, his car was totaled, we had a check for what we feel was very fair market value in 4 days and they did a wonderful job. I had no idea a company could be as bad as American Service. They do not deserve to be in business in America, with a name like American Service of all things!!!!
