False Advertising/ Bait & Switch

My husband was in need of contacts and or glasses. He lost one contact and both pairs of his glasses were broken. I called America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses to find out how long it would take to get glasses or contacts and was told it would be same day serivce. I also asked about charges for services and if they had any specials at this time. I was told they had 2/pairs of glasses including lenses and eye exam for $79.99 and 2/pairs of glasses including lenses and eye exam for $99.99, I was also told eye exam for contacts, 1/pair glasses including lenses would be $107.99. I scheduled an appoitnment for my husband on 2-19-02 at 4:45pm, he was not seen until 6:20 pm. After his exam he began to pick out frames etc.,he picked a frame that was 2/$79.99 but we were told it was going to cost us $184.41 for his glasses, because his lenses have to be special ordered, then we were told his contacts were going to be $129.00. We were told that they would put a rush on his glasses so that he would have them in a few days. It is now Friday 2/22/02, they have no idea where his glasses are or when they will be available.

2 for $79 glasses are real. You can get 2 pairs of eyeglasses with single vision plastic lenses (plsv) for $79. If you need thinner lenses it is more, if you need bifocals it is more, if you want tint it is more.

Kinda like if you go to your local Chevy dealer because they are advertising a car for cheap, options are more. There are only two reasons your contacts are more than you thought they should be.

Either they are a special lense (designed to correct astigmatisim - toric) or you wanted a different lense (colored, or a brand other than the one on sale). If you was over charged go to the store and talk to the manager in private. This will allow you to get this situation resolved.
