Complaint Review: Ancestry
Ancestry Given false info re sign up and effectivedate Povo Utah
Disastrous experience w/ Ancestry.com First they could not load 2006 program and said I had to upgrade to 2012 program in order to load info to site. After purchasing new program called to sign up and load data, explained would be in FL for Winter was it advisable to sign up in Dec 2013 with effective date Jan 2014 or should I wait to sign up in Jan, salesman said no sign up now and load data to ancestry and you'll be ready to use. Never one mention of a 30 day refund policy and when the 30 days would begin. Upon trying to use in Jan discovered half the info did not load and on calling was told I'd have to send again. That info was on desk top at home 1,000 miles away, then was told well do it in three months when you return home. I then attempted to use data that was loaded, system is just impossible to navigate on a lap top so called requested cancellation and was told my 30 days for refund had expired and they couldn't refund. Could not accessw info during that 30 days because my subscription was not effective until Jan 2 but they still maintained 30 day refund policy wouldn't allow refund, felt this was totally deceptive and maybe outright fraud. Just want others to be aware of their slick manuevers. I do not feel they are a reputable company to do business with.
