Whenever you have a free trail that charges money its not free. Ancestry.com charged my account with out my consent twice in the amount of $77.40. Back in july I checked it out (you have to get the free trail in order to check it out), thinking it was a reputable site I gave my card number, now (six months later) Im seeing charges to my account. I havent been on there site since july and then only a couple times.

There are things a site can do to make it clear (or unclear) that they are going to charge you. I have never and would never consent to recurring charges, just dont like em! This site makes it very unclear that they are going to charge you money, and judging from my calls to them I would assume that they have been through this quite a bit.

Yes, I probably should have read their 20 page terms and conditions befor I ticted it, and no, I should not given my card number without expecting to be charged. But thats what scams are all about, taking money from trusting, unsuspecting, unknowing people.

In the end I paid $154.80 for two maybe three visits to a Ancestery.com back in July 2012

Cancellations and Refunds. You may cancel a free trial at any time during the free trial period and incur no charge. For all initial purchases of subscriptions longer than one month, you may cancel during the first 30 days and receive a full refund. If your subscription begins with a free trial, the 30 day refund period begins once the free trial ends. If the cancellation occurs after the first 30 days, you will not receive a refund. For all renewals of subscriptions longer than one month, you may cancel within seven days of the renewal date and receive a full refund. Monthly subscriptions may be cancelled at any time but you will not receive a refund. Please note that for gift subscriptions the refund time period begins on the date of purchase since no free trial period is available. If you cancel your subscription but are not eligible for a refund, you will retain access to the Website until your subscription expires. Cancellations may be made by calling Ancestry at 1-800-262-3787 or by logging into your My Account page on the Website and providing the same information that you provided when you subscribed. Your cancellation must be received by end of business (5:00 p.m. Mountain Time) on the appropriate day as described above. All refunds will be given to the original credit card on which the purchase was made. Please allow a reasonable time for the refund to reach you or be charged back to your account.

There is a block on the free trial order page that says; "I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of Ancestry.com.

The above is a paragraph of those terms. It's included in a two page detailling of the terms YOU said YOU read before signing up.  It's just about 18 pages short of the 20 pages YOU alleged.

Either you don't read/comprehend or are a real drama queen.

I have used Ancestry.com with no problems off an on for about two years.  They always lived up to the terms of their agreement. It appears you aren't willing to do the same.

BTW, it makes no difference how MANY times you accessed the information, YOU did agree to the terms when YOU signed up...get a life...liar.
