Protect America's lifetime warranty on the alarm system is as good as any other promise they make. The system was defective. After nearly 2 entire days trying to make it work the technician (who instructed me by phone) said it needed to be replaced. They did not replace it. BUT began to bill me immediately.

When I protested to the credit card company, they began a campaign of phone harassment. Then called on Anderson Crenshaw to finish the job. I checked and it seems that although Anderson Crenshaw claims to be a lawyer they are a collection agency for Protect America.

In other words: Once you sign a contract with them they will come after you for money but will provide no product, no services. Now Anderson Crenshaw has reported this as a deficiency to credit reporting agencies AND placed a lien on the home I am renting!!

BTW, I did report them to the Dallas BBB. Not that it does any good.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You made the wrong response

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 12, 2005

Your correct response should have been:
1. Notify Protect America in writing Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested (CMRRR) that their product is defective and is to be removed from your home.
2. Notify Anderson Crenshaw (or anyone else who tries to collect on this debt) that the debt is disputed and that you WILL sue them for a Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violation if they put it on your credit without the dispute notation (they never do)

Now that you didn't do that, do #2 immediately to Anderson Crenshaw CMRRR and in 30 days dispute their trade line with the Credit Bureau. Of course the trade line will come back "verofied", but if it also doesn't say "in dispute" then you file suit against Anderson Crenshaw for a Fair Credit Reporting Act violation.

There are several good boards on the internet that will help you understand the laws taht affect you and even help you research the laws and put together your lawsuit. I line ArtofCredit, Creditinfocenter and Creditboards - all followed by "dot-com". I am a frequent poster on ArtofCredit (my screen name is Flyingifr) and at ArtofCredit you will find a thread "The Flyingifr Method of Aggressive Credit Repair - with Working Links" - read it.
