Concern number 1: The material and testing is elementary. Not only is it seriously easy, but it allows you to print out the test and fill it out before taking it online. This is a test anyone can pass and not even have to retain any of the material. I took all the tests in the first weeks without even really looking through the material. 


Concern number 2: You really don't hear from the coordinators or directors until the externship program. They are not understanding of people with rotating schedules and and extremely rude. 


Concern 3: The facility they sent me to for my externship was in a moldy basement in DC where the staff smoked and the ventilation was terrible, you also had to walk through a grooming area that smelled like it had not been cleaned in years.


Concern 3: If you express any displeasure with the ABC staff it falls under " inappropriate" and grounds for dismissal , so if you are unhappy and say so they punish you or take your money and kick you out. 


Concern 4: The program cost is 4K and all you really get is a dog training book, a few dog toys, a halty and a t-shirt, the externship program is where they pay a trainer their class fees to have you sit for the first 5hrs while they do one hour lessons to customers, day one teach the dog focus, day 2 teach the do sit and lay down day 3 teach the dog to walk on the leash, the problem with these classes is it is pretty much what you pay 100$ at Petsmart, the trainer teaches anyone who takes their dog to class "how to train" their dog. the trainer sends the students home with a piece of paper that tells them the steps to practice for the week. The reason the externship takes 16 weeks is because you get one hour a week with the instructor. You could literally pay a dog trainer in your area and attend the same class for several sessions and get twice the value here. 


Overall: the training is subpar, the staff are rude and treat you like a number, the facilities for the externships in DC are terrible, and I suppose most people who take the class do not go on to do much as there are not thousands of ABC students who run dog training. I recommend trying another program and not one online. Dog training is not a degree thing,its vocational training. If you are stressed over tests , i am pretty sure anywhere you go for dog training will still be okay. Take Psychology 101 , its all pavlov's theory.
