On 12/30/2013 I telephoned this business and inquired what the cost would be to repair my Dell Laptop especially at the power entry. The conversation went like this. ME: You do this all the time so you have a good sense in what the repairs will cost? Answer Yes we do. It will cost $39.

This was the first call to see if this was something I could live with, as the Dell laptop was near 8 years old and using windows XP. I decided to go in and get this done so that I could give it to one of my granchildren. I went in the store on 1/2/2014 and talked to another company rep and clearly he said $39 also and I told him I called previously. I left it in the store to be picked up on 1/6/2016 near noon.

On 1/3/2014, I received a call on my answering machine that they wanted to go over the cost of repair, which drew a big red flag. I went online and did a consumer complaint search of this company and they held true to the complaints which are on several websites in which consumers were targeted for additional costs by certain scamming techniques. When I went in to pick up my machine I was ready to expose them if the costs exceeded what was agreed to. Here is how this went down. They assumed that I was aware that the parts were going to be extra. Because 2 grown up individuals stated they do this all the time I thought the parts cost were going to be small or included, because the part I brought to them couldn't be more that $10. When they told me that it need a part of $225 and rejected right away they said they can repair the laptop with a used part for $75. I rejected that also, then the attendant stated that was a brand new part. Again rejected. My thinking was if the cost of repair for and 8 year old laptop was $39 by both men and later to pick it up was an additional $225 marked down to a new $75 part which was a gross overcharge. This is about what I expectedafter reading the scam reports on this company  and how they have conduct business, I decided to Eat the $39 cost, and trash the laptop.

This would have all been circumvented if they were upfront in conducting business. They could have made clear that this is a exploritory cost, just to open it up and see what is needed, Both men did not do that both said $39. I was expecting to pick it up at the agreed on cost because of the age condition of the laptop. They assumed I knew that. What I assumed was maybe a small incidental part could finish the repair, take out 12 screws, assess the condition of the power port, repair the damaged port or replace the part by soldering.

In conclusion, their repair receipt could have made it clear that there might be additional charges and should so have stated such. But 2 adults and 1 repair receipt were void of additional costs or claims to the cost of parts. Additionally, I think that they hold true to what customers are complaining about, and that is why I felt it was necessary to voice my opinion.
