This company and man entered an on line auction supposedly selling a 2.57 caret diamond ring. the winning bid was mine at $3,450. with the seller, Anthony Jolly paying for express shipping.
(note that he collected an addtional $325.00 to cover all of the expences making the total sales amount $3,795.00)

I sent Mr. Jolly a cashiers check for $3,795.00 on 12/23/03.

Mr. Jolly sent a box via express mail through the United States Post office on 12/31/03 which had a small piece of bubble wrap, an empty jewelry box and a small hand written receipt for the payment.

The postal employee had me sign before being able to even view the box then immediately told me I would need to call the number written on the box. This was before I even knew the box did not contain the ring.

I called the post office immediately to alert them and file any documents needed.

They told me only Mr. Jolly as the shipper was able to file for the missing item.

When I called Mr. Jolly he said he would contact the post office and file any necessary paperwork.

I also informed him there was no documentation for the ring other than the hand written receipt (no appraisal)
Mr. JOlly promised to get back with me immediately after he contacted the post office.

He called saying he filed for the insurance on the ring and he would contact me as soon as he received payment.

After numerous calls to Mr. Jolly I finally took all of the auction information and shipping container to the post office.

After approximately an hour I found that the post office was unable to tell when the post office found that the box was empty but they were able to tell me that Mr. Jolly had not insured the package over the 100.00 standard insurance covering express mail.

They found it pecular that a company who dealt in expensive jewelry would ship an item of this value without buying insurance to cover the item in the event that it was lost.

They also pointed out that if the item was in fact genuine the shipper would have to verify the value of the item to collect any insurance had he claimed a higher value.

I contacted the auction service and explained what happened and found other customers had difficulties aquiring their purchases from this party and they had to become involved to cause delivery to occur.

Mr. Jolly evidently thought sending an empty box would take care of the burden of proof. Evidently he didn't think that receiving $325.00 and claiming he would handling on related shipping costs would make him liable to supply either a refund of my money or the diamond ring he sold me.

Supposedly he was working on getting a replacement ring. It has been well over two years and to date I have not received any of my money or the ring. Mr. Jolly is a scam artist and a thieF!!

Also as for the extra $325.00 that was not for us, 10% was always charged because the auction site charged us 10% . All the sellers charged an extra 10% that was calculated into the final cost, buyers were aware of the auction sites policy on the 10%.

Story Not Accurate

AUTHOR: Mrj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2008

I was an employee of this business back in 2003. I myself handled this transaction, NOT Mr. Jolly. I am a female, I have a female voice and I spoke with Celeste. Celeste NEVER spoke with Mr. Jolly on any occassion, she always spoke with me. Though Mr. Jolly was the co-owner of this business he never handled transactions and knew little about them. Mr. Jolly does not know Celeste nor has had any direct dealings with her except to have his Name listed as one of the account holders for the auction site. I remember the transaction well because there were always a few things that did not piece together. First and foremost packages were always sent with insurance and had to be signed for. Insurance would have never been skipped on in the slight chance the package was lost. The package was fully insured, had signature confirmation and tracking. All packages were shipped this way. I remember the details of the auction, they are as stated. The Ring, not an empty box was shipped out by me on 12/31/03, I packaged it, I shipped it via express mail with USPS. It was shipped with insurance in the amount of the auction total. On the shipping package receipt the weight of the package was documented by the USPS cashier. The shipping, insurance, confirmation was then added up and was then paid for. I emailed or called Celeste with the package tracking as we did with all packages. When Celeste received the package she called and told me the package was empty. She stated that she was unable to see the package before she signed for it and that the package was damanged. When the post office worker gave her the package he told her to call the number.???Talk about some red flags. I told her to call the number and that the package was insured, but she would need to start the claim information, I told her I would see what I could find out from my end. I went down to the post office where it was shipped from, gave them the info and they said it had been delivered and signed for I told them I knew that but that it was damaged in transit and that the package contents had not all arrived. The lady then said the claim would have to be filed on the other end since the box was not damaged at their facility. I called and told Celeste this, she accused us of sending an empty box. I told her we had not, the proof of that is on the receipt, its in the weight the ring adds to the box, even if you put back the ring box, bubble wrap and receipt you have a lighter box, granted the ring did not add much, just a few grams, but it clearly stated on our receipt what the weight was when the box was shipped when it was intact and all contents inside. If you weigh just the contents Celeste received you come up with lower than what our receipt states as the weight taken by the post office on our end. Plus I insured it!!!It was fully insured!!!! I never ever shipped an empty box, never. I have never blamed Celeste and I thought it was solved on her end, I told her to file the claim, sent a copy of my tracking and receipt info via email. After that I never heard from her, not a beep, not a call, I sent an email a few weeks later and she never responded. The address above is not correct but close and we were there til 2005 and the number was accurate til 2007, never a call. Now seeing this report it was obviously not cleared up. I would have hoped the post office would have honored the insurance, but as I was later told once its signed for they are not liable.A replacement or money was never offered on our end due to the fact once signed for we had no proof she didnt have the ring, the post office said that once signed for they are not liable, and they said that there carriers dont hide the boxes and its up to the customer to sign for them. Bottom line we did not rip Celeste off. My questions are with the post office??? And there are alot! Someone got a nice ring, that did not belong to them and they didnt pay for it, they ripped a lady off and we have ultimately taken the blame. Celeste should have never signed for a damaged package, the postal worker should have shown her the package why hide it? All I know is I sent what I was supposed to send and it was NOT an empty box. Celeste didnt receive all of what she was supposed to receive and the Postal Office I feel did not do their job. Some one has a nice ring and appraisal out there that does not belong to them!
