I have tried to cancel my membership with anytime fitness and they keep denieing me! This does not make any sence. I had an 18 month contract with anytime which ended June 2009. I did did not read in the contract where it says I was on automatic renewal. In fact I am pretty sure that it is not in there at all.

Well, I called on July 2 after seeing that they had taken money out for yet another month which was $10 more than what I was paying while under contract, to tell them to cancel my account, they said ok. I asked for my money back as well and was told ok. What do you know, another month later and they again took money out of my account!

So I called again and they now tell me that they need a 30 day written notice to cancel the membership so no matter what they will be charging me still another month after this. So 3 months of unwanted membership that I did not authorize. $140 later I have no idea if they are going to still try and take money from me.

I was told that I needed to contact ABC financial in order to get a refund of my money and after talk to the "supervisor" was told that they can not issue a refund, I said if you can't than I want to talk to the person who can. I was told that there is no one else to talk to. So I again hit a dead end with this company and their customer service.

I have turned in the writen notice now even though no where in the contract that I signed does it state that I need to do this, so I am hoping that this will stop them from taking money from me.

I am filing this report to let everyone know that Anytime and ABC financial will try to rip you off where they can, so be carefull with them. They have very poor customer service!!

Try the month to month

All heath clubs do this. I had the same problem with Gold's Gym. Then after I paid G.G all the extra months, I went to Anytime Fitness. They have a program that for around $50 a month, they will give you a membership with no contracts to sign. It will automatically cancel if you don't go in for a 30 day period. No fees, no written notice or anything like that. I love this program. It's more expensive than a contract program, but it's worth it, because I may not want to stay in the program for a year or 18 months.

I just recently got my membership to Anytime Fitness, and clearly in the contract it says that I go on a month to month basis after my year (and the guy who gave me the contract told me this) and that if you want to end it after your contract to submit a written letter to the club you go to. They didn't rip you off and they don't owe you anything. Learn to read stuff before signing.
