Marco had originally told me the movers would meet me there on the day i requested. but the guy that came said they had 21 days after that, .. he also told me i would get an email when my things were leaving illinois. after arriving to seattle i called the company spoke to brian, he told me he would check about when it was leaving and get back to me,. he never did,.. the following friday i get a text message from someone with a new your number. saying my things would be delivered the next day. To Jill and any Prospective Customers

AUTHOR: Marco - ()

Hello Jill,

I'm sorry to hear about your frustration with myself and my company. There are some things I want to clear up here on Ripoff Report as a salesperson here at Anywhere Moving & Storage that I think need to be addressed as some information is heavily skewed and inaccurate.

First off, I want to mention I do take pride in selling my moves with a little more than just telling my customers information about my company specifically and pushing my services exclusively, and more so of taking a neutral standpoint telling how the general moving industry works as not many people are familiar with and deal with moving companies as frequently as other businesses and services throughout their lives. There are some predispositions that several of my customers come to me with that are just not accurate or relevant in the moving industry as a whole, and not just my conmpany. Things like total price of the move, delivery scheduling, etc. I try my best to address each and everyone one of these with all of my customers to clear any misunderstasndings up and to be on the same page.

You mentioned in your report that I had stated your move will not go up or down within $300. I would never tell any of my customers that they are locked into a price no matter if they had more items than the items listed on the estimate. A common misconception is that the price is guaranteed in the moving industry and that the price on the estimate will not change no matter what. Now this may be true under very specific and particualr circumstances, but more often than not, is not the case. I always tell my customers to be very thorough with the inventory to avoid any surprises as I can only be as accurate as my customers can be with me during the inventory proccess. If one were to sign the contract and agree with a total of 100 items  to be shipped and we arrive at the pickup location to find 120 items, we have to charge the customer the difference as it is more costly for us to ship the extra items.

You may have been confusing my statement in which I told you if you have less items on the day of the move, we can go down on the price up to 10% of the total moving estimate, which equaled to $300 taking that your moving estimate was booked at $3,000.

You also mentioned that I had stated somone will be coming to your residence to take a look at what you're moving the weekend before your move to confirm the items you're moving. This is false, as for one, this was never mentioned to me or any office personnel here at Anywhere Moving & Storage and was never agreed upon. Secondly, this is not standard protocol as we always facilitate in home visual estimates before the customer books the job and puts a deposit on the move.

You mentioned the movers arrived late, and I do apologize for any inconvenience that may have cuased you. We always give our customers an arrival window of about 3 hours to ensure we prepare them the best that we can. I remember we were extremely busy that day, and the move prior to yours was unexpectedly larger than we anticipated, taking more time than expceted. However, there is no excuse for this and I do sincerely apologize.

You mentioned I gave you a guaranteed delivery date before we even pickup the items up here in Illinois. This is false as I would never mention a guaranteed delivery date for a move with a destination as far as Seattle, Washington. I always mention my guaranteed delivery WINDOW to all my customers of either 1-14 business days, or 1-21 business days depending on which state my customer is moving to respectively. These windows are very large and that is why it is guaranteed within that time frame, but I also mention to all my customers our average delivery window to give them a little bit better of a real world delivery window viewpoint, as we often deliver a lot sooner than our guaranteed time frame written in the contract.

You also mentioned a plethora of stories about our driver trying to deliver your items and threatening you. On the 3 occassions the driver attempted to deliver the items to your residence, you were not present to accept the items. With all due respect, when someone is showing you the decency and respect any human being deserves, it will surely be given in return. This was not the case in your situation as loud and obnoxious screaming, yelling, and threatening was usually accompanied with your phone calls. We were never outside of our contractual agreement written and signed by you on paper; this is the major reason why the Department of Transportation ruled in Anywhere Moving & Storage's favor in the recent review of your move by the federal department.

You mentioned you recieved a picture of the driver and the truck at your apartment and this alone was to provide you proof of the delivery being attempted. The predisposition some customers come to me with is that we work around your schedule for delivery no matter what. We certainly do our best to cater to everyone of our customer's needs and look at details along every step of the move, but if we can't commit to an exact day and time, it is well noted and stated. We do work with a delivery window and general time frame as coordinating several moves on one truck and logistics requires a tight schedule to complete all deliveries when promised in a timely fashion.

In your story, Jill, there are a lot of holes and gaps that just doesn't add up. Why would one of my movers call and ask if you are available to finally accept your items outside of your work schedule, catering to your specific needs, to not show up? We carried your items around for 3 delivery attempts in which you were not there for anyone of them.

In this industry, the prospective customer recieves a plethora of calls about their move and is inundated with information from all across the moving industry realm. Not every moving company works the same way and has the exact same contract, as you may know. I beleive some customers carry over what they heard with another company trying to sell them a dream, telling them everything they want to hear, and end up creating a false memory when they book with myself and my company. I've worked this position long enough and have gone through enough customers ,booked and not booked, to say that this does happen quite frequently. I'm not saying this is the case with your move, Jill, but it is a possibility this may have happened.

I do aplogize for any inconvenience this may have caused in your move. Please understand we are always here to help you and all we want to do is move you. Anything more than this is not in our general interest as we have several customers and moves to attend to and this is a business we need to run.  We never tell any customers or prospective customers any false information as we are a local Chicago company and we pride ourself in customer satisfaction and referrals. We aren't an out of state van line, or a broker service that has nothing to do with Chicago and could care less if the customer has a bad experience. We want our customers to let their freinds, family, and loved ones know about our company and trust they will be in good hands. We have a repuatation to hold in good standing here in Chicago if we want our business to grow and prosper as our jobs rely on this. I hope this has given you a little insight on the situation, as over the phone, it was not as easy to get my words and points across to closed ears.

All the best,

Marco
