My bank account was debited $240 without authorization for a years subscription to AOL. I had called and cancelled service. After talking with a "supervisor" I was told that my account would be credited the money with in 7 days.

I had 3 checks bounce during this time ($87 in fees). After 7 days of no funds being put back in my account, I called again (on a friday). Another supervisor told me that it would be put in my account by midnight. It was not. 3 weeks later and $160 in bounced checks later $216 was credited to my account.

I was given a number to fax my bank statements of NSF fees to get corrected. After a month I was told that that was denied. I was told by one customer service memeber that it is aol policy to send notification of billing either by email or mail.

I never recieved that. But, I had two other customer service representatives tell me that they NEVER send out notices of billing. I think aol should be held reponsible for false representation and bad billing proceedures. I know that I am out $160 for them stealing money from my account. If I was to take someone's money from their bank account without authorization, I would go to jail. I dont understand why there is nothing I can do when aol takes money out of my bank account without my allowing it. Big business sucks. The justice system does not cater to the individual being ripped off.

I was told by one customer service representative that every time I log on to aol, it authorizes them to my bank account. That is bad business. For the consumer to have to change bank accounts because the billion dollar company helps itself to consumers bank accounts is pathetic. I had even changed credit card numbers and they still found a way to tap into my checking account. That is theft.
