My husband worked as a salesman for APX over this last summer. I am sure there are several dishonest & pushy salesmen out there but he was not one of them. He worked 12-15 hour days in 100 degree weather just trying to make a living.

APX makes so many promises to these guys to suck them into their company. They are promised big paychecks at the end of the summer. Most of the guys enjoy helping families and protecting their homes. You can look under any company name and find complaints. APX does target young college student for the fact they are clean cut & have no obligations over the summer and like I said they are promised big money.

I feel we were ripped off as well just in a different way. The only people making money off these alarms are the area & regional managers and of course the owners. The salesmen & techs are lucky if they come out even at the end of the year. APX deducts rent, utilities and anything that the salesmen gives to the customer to get a sale. If you want an extra motion sensor they have to pay for it. If you do cancel they get charged back for that sale.

The owners & managers love making these guys work so hard. They get $500,000.00 or more for the summer and the owners just built a huge building in Provo, UT.

They steal from the customers then from their own employees. All the guys I have talked with worked very hard & when they did get their final check were surprised with what APX took from them. It doesn't matter what you say or write because a new flock of salesmen will be recruited this year and put in new areas with the thought of making good money over the course of 4 months. Some customers will be happy & some will be upset. It is just the reality of life.

The Real Culprits and their Victims

As an APX victim in a long-standing dispute with the company, I want to just say that I am not surprised at your comments.  My heart goes out to you.  Most of the young sales people are recruited out of the University of Utah and some used this information and made slurs against Mormons (LDS) for their shoddy and greedy treatment.  That is inaccurate and unfair.  I am not remotely LDS, but strongly Protestant Evangelical - but APX's real culprits are not the poor kids selling the services.  They are pushed too hard, under-trained, and some of them, in the pursuit of their own bottom line, really are abusive and deceptive.  As I have read numerous APX complaints over the past twelve months, though, I soon realized many were neither.

You can find the greedy, crooked, profit-driven types in every religious tradition - and to the degree any of these monetary predators claim association with Christ, they are an embarrassment to us all.

In this unfettered pursuit of profit and expansion, both the summer employees and the consumers are the potential victims - And, yes, I also realize not everyone in either category has complaints.

What is most troubling is the lack of available means for restraining these kinds of abuses.  Both summer salespeople and consumers share the common lot of being relatively powerless in comparison to the deep pockets and vast resources available to APX Alarm, Inc.
