ARAG Legal Services is a ripoff. I have subscribed to their service for over 12 years and used them once before for a real estate issue with marginal results.  This time when I called looking for some real advice....of course this advice was not covered.

My wife is being sued by a former employer and I wanted some advice on what I should do to protect my/our personal stuff (property & money).  Because I was told that I was not covered for this service, I decided to quit using their services on the spot.  After all, why have I paid over 12 years of fees and when I really need 1 phone call worth of real legal advice..... they would not help me.

The program is nothing more than a legal document service, not a legal service.  I caution anyone contemplating this service to tread cautiously.  If all you want is a legal document service, this may be for you, but if you want just some simple legal service coverage for advice......don't look here!  I was advised by customer service that if I quit, I could never use this service again......do I care at this point????

Weird Cube Culture / Cult

AUTHOR: ARAGed - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 12, 2013

I agree with comments here regarding ARAG.  Everyone I work with feels stuck in a rut with nowhere to go.  High level people seem uninvolved or do not seem to care.  A lot of weird 'busy work' meetings seem to keep everyone very 'busy.'  So busy.

If you're looking to work in a maze of cube farm where you can pretty much surf Facebook all day, try to get a job here.  If you're looking for a real gig to advance your career, look elsewhere.

I feel sorry for the customers who don't get anywhere near the service they think they are getting.  Delivering on a promise?  Forget it.  Seek legal advice on your own.

Unlimited Advice is invaluable...

I was just searching to see if there was any competition to the services that Legal Shield provides.  I have heard of ARAG and apparently this would be like comparing Apples to Lemons!  So far...I have found NONE!  Unlimited advice, letters, doc/contract review..plus plus plus for $27/month per family!  I will stay with Legal Shield as I have for 15 years and counting! greatlegalbenefit.com/ays

As Director of Customer Care at ARAG, I want to thank you for being an ARAG legal plan member for the past 12 years. Your continued plan participation shows youre a person concerned about protecting your familys well-being. Legal issues can happen to anyone at any time. Our research shows that 7 out of 10 Americans have one or legal issues each year. Legal insurance can be a cost-effective and timely resource to prevent or resolve legal matters.

For the past 75 years, ARAG has delivered responsive, reliable legal services and peace of mind. Our nationwide attorney networks provide in-office or telephone counsel. The ARAGLegalCenter is a one-stop repository of information so members can better understand coverage and resources they can use. We also offer the convenience of do-it-yourself legal documents at no cost to help plan for a more secure future. The legal coverage that we offer is endorsed by the American Bar Association and is
generally regulated by insurance commissioners in states where we operate.

Im sorry we couldnt satisfactorily resolve the employer issue mentioned in your complaint. Unfortunately, employer disputes are excluded from coverage in legal plans. Im also sorry your experience with ARAG didnt meet your expectations. Id be glad to talk with you to see if theres something we can do to provide useful information and other resources. Just call our CustomerCareCenter at 800-247-4184, and ask for Angie Ballantine.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO ME?

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

FIRST OF ALL, WAS THIS A PARALEGAL SERVICE TO PROVIDE DOCUMENTS  AND RESEARCH FOR LAWYERS?

OR WAS IT REPRESENTED TO YOU AS PRE-PAID LEGAL INSURANCE??????

WHAT DID YOU THINK YOU WERE PAYING MONEY FOR ALL THOSE YEARS?

AND DO YOU HAVE DOCUMENTS THAT SAY IT IS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH LEGAL COUNSEL?

AND IS THERE AN ATTORNEY WHO IS LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN YOUR STATE WHO IS GIVING THIS ADVICE?

AND DID YOU CALL YOU STATE'S BAR ASSOCIATION AND ASK THESE QUESTIONS TO THEM?

WHY DID YOU NOT CANCEL WHEN YOU GOT MARGINAL LEGAL ADVICE BEFORE? THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARNING OF THINGS THAT WERE TO COME.

IT MIGHT HAVE EVEN BEEN A LAWYER FROM INDIA ON THAT PHONE -- A LOT OF PLACES ARE USING  ATTORNEYS WHO CALL FROM INDIA BECAUSE THEY COST LESS THAN AN AMERICAN ATTORNEY --SUPPOSEDLY --BUT END UP COSTING YOU MORE EVENTUALLY EVEN THOUGH FORMER BRITISH COLONIES HAVE LAWS BASED ON BRITISH COMMON LAW, INDIA STILL HAVE DIFFERENT LAWS THAN WE DO.

WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON GOING ON THE CHEAP IN LEGAL MATTERS WHEN THEY COULD LOSE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE IN COME COCKAMAMY LAW SUIT?

I HAVE TO WONDER WHAT CHARGES ARE BEING FILED AGAINST YOUR WIFE THAT THIS FORMER EMPLOYEE CAN SUE HER FOR?

ARE YOU A COMMUNITY PROPERTY STATE?

YOU NEED TO SEE A LAWYER,----RIGHT NOW!

A REAL LAWYER -- NOT JUST SOME WHO KNOWS WHO THE HELL THEY REALLY ARE WHO TALKS TO YOU ON A PHONE.

YOU NEED TO SEE ONE FACE TO FACE AND THE SOONER THE BETTER.

YOU BETTER CALL YOUR STATE'S BAR ASSOCIATION AND MAKE SURE HE OR SHE IS LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN YOUR STATE BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR FINAL SELECTION TOO.
