A friend and I moved into Archstone Monterey Ranch Austin TX last year for $1000 in rent per month because an apartment finder told us it was a great place to live and that it was close to everything we will ever need. Since both of us are very trusting people and the fact that rent was so high, we believed her and signed a one year lease agreement. Only during the signing did we realize that the apartment finder was paid a handsome sum of money for bring us to this apartment. Anyways, we moved in and the first thing we noticed was that the gate was not working. It was always broken, since both of us were girls we really didn't feel safe, so we asked management to fix it. It took them two weeks to fix it and within a week it was broken again. They try to fix it a few times, but it's still broken until this day.

This spring the mail box was damaged for some reason and management didn't feel like fixing it so they post a notice telling us to walk across the street and mail it in another box. Two weeks later that mail box was also damaged. Some of us went in and complained and nobody did anything for months.

As summer rolled around we started using our AC. When we turned it on it didn't work at all. We called to get it fix and the guy told us that the AC was leaking coolant. We were like isn't that really bad for the environment and everything, he guy was like, "oh all the AC are like that". Two weeks went by and our AC was not working again we had to call again and they came and fixed it. This happened like 6 times and every times it takes them like 6-8 hours to get around fixing it. One of our neighbors is an old man and he told us last Labor Day his AC went out Saturday and they didn't come and fix it until the Tuesday after the holiday. In TX can get up to 105 degrees on some days. I mean the old guy could have died or something and they didn't even care. When he called to get it fixed on Saturday, the operator was like this is not an emergency you can wait until our business hours. If 90 degrees inside an apartment for 4 days is not an emergency for a 80 years old man is not an emergency, I don't know what is. Every day when I come home from school I would see their maintenance people filling another AC with coolant, I mean, think about what that is doing to our ozone and environment. Last week we went in and asked that our AC be replace the management team was like your AC is working fine, we both said, no it's not, this is like the 7th time. The management team said there been people that come in 20 times and their AC has not been replace. So we all pay around 1000 a month to live here and we can't even get a decent AC that doesn't break down every 2 weeks. I just can't believe it.

One of our other neighbors told us last year one of their electric outlets in their bed room started burning in the middle of the night. They called maintenance and the operator was like, it's not an emergency please wait until our business hours, they had to threaten to call 911 before someone agreed to come out there. Finally after like 15 min on the phone they finally send some guy out to fix it. When the guy got there he was like gosh, this is pretty bad you could have died.

My lease ends the end of August and I'm moving out of there ASAP because they really don't take care of their residence for the amount they charge. By the way the raised rent again!!
