Ardent Property Management- T.C Treats you like a dog and has no limits on what he is allowed to say to you Columbus Ohio

I am a young mother of two and a college student. I became pregnant at the beginning of the year and was taken off due to heart problems. I was living in Lake Ridge Apartments in an upstairs place but my doctor wrote me out of the lease because I was unable to carry my daughter up the stairs. I looked at the model at Sawbury commoons and liked it so my boyfriend and I signed the lease and decided to move in.

We got our keys and went over to our new place and much to our surprise it was no where near move in ready. It was completely filthy. Windows were cracked, no screens, dust and dirt anyplace it could lay, moldy, and smelled very damp.

I contacted the women at the rental office who then gave us another townhome accross the street. It was pretty much the same deal broken dorr frames, dirty, leaking sink, rusted tub, but because I had already given my other apartment a time I would be gone I had no choice to take the place. This should of been my sign NOT to move there.

We moved in and I cleaned the apartment myself (after I was told a cleaning lady would be comming by). We immediately had probelms. The air didnt work properly, and anyone who has ever been pregnant in the middle of the summer knows air is a must. The dishwasher NEVER worked even tho I had them there about 5 times to fix it. The tubs were rusted and everytime I would put my one-year-old in the bath rust would float in it. It was also very damp. Everytime it rained my home smelled like mildew for weeks afterwards.. I reported this problem but no one ever fixed it.

On account of not having anywhere else to go we decided to just deal with it and stay. Well with the economy like it is, my boyfriend and I got to the point we were unable to pay for the place anymore. Mind you we had never missed a rent payment or even been late. We all have our points in life where things get a little out of reach.

I then called my rental office who forwarded my number to a man named T.C, who turned out to be the biggest jerk I have ever spoken to in my life. When T.C called me he asked if I had payed my rent for the month (which I had not because I was calling him to make those arrangements). I told him I needed to know what the payoff amount was for the lease and if I could make payments. I explained to him I didnt work and was a student and could no longer afford to stay there. He informed me I could not make payments so I asked what happens if we pay alf and leave and then pay the other half. Thats when the rudeness started

He then went into how he would take me to court and granish wages and the who deal about eviction. Which was fine. At first I didnt think he was understanding that I wanted to do the right thing and pay the money I owed. I had a PERFECT rental history so I did not want to mess it up. He then decided to tell me to get off my lazy a** and get a job. He said I sounded half way intelligent it shouldnt be that hard. He then heard my daughter talking in the background and informed me she would be living in a cardboard box and I need to be realistic and drop out of school.

He continually ran me down and would not let me say anything in my own defense. He refused to give me any information and when I asked to talk to a supervisor he told me I would have to go a long way to get him in trouble and that there was only one person above him and that person, and I qoute, " Thinks Im hot doo doo". He also told me that if anyone called him to try and defend me for the way he talked to me he would hang up because he doesnt have to answer to anyway. He finally ended the phone call by just hanging up on me. He never gave me to information.

I called everyone I knew to make complaints. I called his company who also refused to do anything. So I guess they dont mind how he speaks to their costomers. I also called the unfair housing department and spoke to a woman who knew exactly who I was talking about before I ever even gave a name. She also basically told me there is no reasoning with him and there is really nothing I can do.

So I came to a dead end with that and then I got better news. After I explained to this man I would be a little late on rent due to my boyfriend being in the hospital for his heart, I get a voicemail that they pput a 3 day notice on my front dorr (which I never recieved) stating if I did not pay my rent they would start the eviction process. I never recieved the notice and by the time they called the process had already started. When I called to office to try to rectify this they then told me I would have to pay my rent on top of $500 to stop the eviction process which I was unable to pay. I now have a court date on monday and have to fight this eviction to try and keep it off my record.

I have never been spoken to or treated this way in my life. I would never talk to any person the way that man spoke to me. I think it is completely B.S that he can just talk to people this way and get away with it. I know I was the one owing money but I was trying to do the right thing. He had no right to tell me to get a job and quit school.

Im trying to better my life and my childrens life by getting an education. Which is none of his business. I am now going to the news stations to try and get some light on this many and this company.
Please steer clear of this company and save yourself the problem. I wish I would of gotten the warning
